zero - default on lowest setting

Recommended Posts

ATM all weapons have default zero that is not the lowest setting but somewhere in between their range. I would prefer to always default to the lowest setting because when I encounter a foe and have to react fast it will probably be at a close distance. If someone is further away I will have time to adjust my zero. Others feel the same way?

why?

Because official "battlesight zero" for the Mosin, SKS and M4 is all 300 meters. If you are zeroed for 300m with an M4 you are also zeroed for 25m anyways which is why they call it a 25/300 meter zero. The standard sights on all of these don't have a setting that reads "50" anyways so they should remove that option. And "50" is unnecessary since you will do just as well when set to "100" or "200". Furthermore a zero at 50 meters does not seem to work the same in real life as the bullets appears to start dropping below the line of sight immediately after 50 meters.

Ah okay, so what you are saying is that bullet drop until 300 m is negligible.

My idea cam from an experience today where I was shooting at a zombie at about 75 meters with my sks zeroed to 200 m and I had a hard time hitting it, but may have been shitty skills on my end.

Also, I had a psu scope but it was not rendering so saw only iron sights, maybe that was a problem too.

Yes... that would probably be the problem... for the Mosin and M4 I would set it to 200m. For the SKS maybe 100m. This only matters for headshots though, if you are only aiming at the body I would leave it at 200 or 300 for any of these.
