Need help , new to dayZ

Hi guys,

 

First of all im sorry if my english isn't so good.

Im from the netherlands (Amsterdam)

 

3 days i bought dayZ and i do like it.

 

I had like 2 long lasting characters who had some food , water , and melee weapons.

I just died to an zombie looking at the map -.-

I find it really hard to survive because heading inland takes really long and if oyu are unlucky you get caught by an zombie and you are bleeding.

 

the question for me is : Can someone get me some normal gear for me ?

I also find it really hard to find ammo for guns since every gun needs different ammo.

I am also down if someone is also new and wants to travel with me ^^

When you spawn, always take off your t-shirt, move it into your trousers and tear it into rags, that way if you get hit and start bleeding you can bandage yourself.

Once you get into it, it's really easy to survive the hunger games, unless you play on servers that restart every 12 hours.

Hello and welcome to the forums. :)

 

I don't think anyone will get you some gear to start off with. You're better off posting something in the Recruitment-Section saying you're searching for people to play with and then they can teach you how to acquire gear and where to acquire it.

 

That way you will get used to it and learn a lot (hopefully) from an experienced player. There are always people out there searching for new guys.

Z German is correct, best way is to ask those with more experience.

Here's my advice to get set up quickly:

1: start on a low population server

2: find a water pump immediately and drink until you're full.

3: run run run north

 

If you're a new spawn with full water you can run non-stop to the north end of the map in about 30 minutes. You will not die of hunger, and you will find enough food and tools at either of the airfields to get fed and geared up quickly. If you see a fire house on the way it's worth checking for a fire axe, otherwise just keep running. My 2 cents.

What the guy above said, I started off from a fresh spawn and thought I'd have a go at seeing how long it took me to run up to Svetlojarsk (Turn right when facing away shore and run) I even used all the roads and managed to evade about a twenty zombies on the way (Really not enough of them in the game), Svetlojarsk literally has everything, hospital, police station, firestation, garages, and rich houses stocked with drinks and food. To start off, ration yourself, you never know how long you will go without food or drink, always know your bearings to the last watering hole you find, as then you know when you can get water and how far away you are from it, however, I'd say if you're struggling to get any supplies, only drink when you're status bars go yellow,  e.g thirsty/hungry... anything lower, you need to get a move on.
