Dead Arrow 1 Posted April 7, 2014 I personally find it very difficult for me and my friends to meet up in DayZ as we are both VERY new to the game. I accept all criticism about this topic and appreciate both negative and positive posts, ALL feedback is important. I believe that if you join a server *For the first time* and the game can some how "sense" that you are a new spawn with no items, and same as your friend that you should spawn in the same spawning area. It is a drag trying to find out where you are and how to meet up with each other when you're a new player. Hence the reason while I said, "First time on that server", and "No items", those are the keywords. Summary: First time on that server or both die and have no items, you should be able to spawn in the same zone. This making it easier for newer players, such as my self and many other new-coming players. Please give me your feedback on this topic, and what you think of the situation. Pros/cons? Thanks for reading this important topic. :)
DayZ_Friendly 145 Posted April 7, 2014 I wouldn't know how this could be implemented because DayZ the game doesn't know about Steam.
Pvt_Larry (DayZ) 98 Posted April 7, 2014 Even without steam, you should be able to form a group (I'd say limit to four people at max) and be able to spawn without equipment. It can be quite frustrating spending over two hours trying to find my friends in-game.
DayZ_Friendly 145 Posted April 7, 2014 I know it takes time to know the map. But my friends and I don't have a problem finding each other. Sure people can get lost, but it's not at all difficult. I don't think this would be beneficial to the game at all. For a workaround, I suggest one friend stays around where they spawn and the other friend constantly kill themselves until they get the same spawn as their friend. I'm sure people are already doing this.
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted April 7, 2014 Majority of the freshspawns will be within fair proximity from each other, unless of course you catch an opposite spawn. Knowledge of the map does inmprove the ability to meet up, I would suggest using dayz DB whilst playing to get a idea of where you are going http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus furthermore, I feel as if lumping fresh spawns would create more harm then good, if all fresh spawns were lumped together in one area you would find alot bandit overwatch demolishing them as they come into the server for the lulz. Steak.
Trigger Hippy 176 Posted April 7, 2014 As long as the friend is at the coast, it could be cool. Think about how it could be abused though.
Skyelur 57 Posted April 7, 2014 Same suggestion #48 http://lmgtfy.com/?q=DayZ+Standalone+Spawn+Toghether Finding you bearings and your friends are a part of the game. It may be added in the future, and rocket I'm sure already sees the suggestion.

You can form a group for you and your buddy and whoever else wants to join, post your location, etc. It also helps you to figure out what your location is.HOWEVER, this takes away from the realism of the game of not knowing where you are for a while. smrtrthanavgbear 11 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) I suggest they create a player hub type thing, like x-box live parties, where all the players will meet up beforehand, spawn together, once, if all of you are creating a new life. If at any point you die, as in game, you are spawned in as an entirely different person, with a different story, you would have to meet up. This is entirely realistic, since survivors could be in a group, u just "spawn" in, to continue their lives. This, I find, is the only realistic way to do this. Mahado 15 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) No. GTFO. This is survival simulator not Immersion Breaker 2.0 like the Mod. >.>No, you can do that. Its more likely that in zombie apocalypse you'd be with someone when things go shit. Not to mention its benefits for players who play with their friends, if you don't have one or you don't play much with him/her, don't comment. Its not your feature then. Its stupid that you need to run or do suicides in order to meet with your friend, its nothing but an obstacle before you can start playing. The spawn could still be random like it is now, it is just that you would spawn together wherever it chooses you to spawn. DMentMan 707 Posted April 8, 2014 its a part of the game isn't it?no, this is a bad idea, you will learn the map and you will find your friend easily later.
Mahado 15 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) its a part of the game isn't it?no, this is a bad idea, you will learn the map and you will find your friend easily later. It is utter and completely waste of time just because there isn't feature supporting gaming with your friend. You cannot argue over this fact.If you both start over as fresh spawn, I see no reason why they should spawn at different locations and be forced to run in order to meet each other. srgntpepper 85 Posted April 8, 2014 I would like to see some sort of group spawning option, it kind of sucks when you spawn in a completely different area of the map and have to kill yourself hoping you'll spawn closer. I don't think the friends should be able to spawn like right next to each other, but at least in the same town. I also think this option should be disabled if the friend goes into combat. srgntpepper 85 Posted April 8, 2014 waste of time? if both of you die at the same time, and you both start running to each other it will take max 20 minya, exactly, it will take 20 minutes of u just staring at your screen watching ur dude run, without stopping for anything. A huge and unnecessary waste of time. There is a way to have group spawning without causing problems for people

srgntpepper 85 Posted April 8, 2014 well in dayz you need patience. 20 min is nothing, go play COD.having patience doesnt make running 20 minutes just to meet up with a friend ok or even necessary in a video game. some of us have shit to do, can't spend the whole day playing dayz. akafugitive 244 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) I made a suggestion for a limited base style respawn mechanic, when they introduce base building. I agree that I don't want to see a battlefield style spawn on SL, just becomes too exploitable and reduces the risk for groups who want to wander just to terrorize others. One of your guys dies you need to regroup and waste time, that's what makes dayz exciting, dieing comes with a bigger punishment then a 30 second spawn timer. The statement that this may not be the game for you isn't far fetched, there are plenty of games that provide respawn on your buddies and a lot of the mainstream crap people are calling for. People who like DayZ for what it is intended to be want to beat you away with a stick because this is the only game that provides unforgiving penalties. You have other choices yet you want to change the concept of this one. Edited April 8, 2014 by akafugitive
Shad0wH4wk 7 Posted April 8, 2014 Your suggestion might seem like a great idea now, but you will learn that there is good reason for different spawns. It is the BEST way for you to learn the terrain and map. You are left to explore the world on your own and figure out the game mechanics. Be aware that you can easily find where you are after spawning because there are 2 things you will always know when you spawn. You are on the coastline somewhere, and there is a road sign which will tell you your location. Once you spawn, have a look around and try to get to know what the place you are at looks like. Once you have that done, head down the road whichever way you want until you come across a blue road sign. The road signs are written in Russian, so make sure you have a translator (I recommend http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=245565949). Once you know where you are, have your friend do the same and find a way to meet up!
