Battle Eye Doesn't thwart hacking. Also a mention on Ghosting.

There was a guy on my server who kept getting kicked for hacks by battle eye. I could read him getting kicked over 15 times for "hacks #38" So apparently people are hacking and just getting away with it because battle eye seems to not care at all. The same person, same name ZombieLand something logged back on over and over.

 

 

I then found him. The only other person on the small server I was in. I was in electro trying to find better melee weapon than a wrench when I ran into him standing in middle of intersection by the police station. I said hi with my gun drawn. He just stood there. He replied,"hey just gathering some things. I ran into the police station after saying bye and went upstairs and saw a Mosin. Started running towards it. and ...it vanished.

 

Just gone.

 

In fact there was nothing in the entire police station anymore including the assault vest i walked past. I went back outside and he was standing there this time with a zombie attacking him... He didnt seem to die. I shot at him this time thinking cool Im going to kill a hacker. But he just stood there. Then he disappeared. About 10 mins later I saw him get kicked again for the same reason "Hacks #38" sure enough though...he was back a few mins later.

 

This is depressing. I feel battle eye should be a little more harsh.

 

 

Ghosting:

Later that day I was being shot at from someone on a hill. I ducked for cover and returned fire with my mosin/PU scope. I hit him in the legs saw him go down behind a tree. He fixed himself up and tried to run to another location, He took 2 in the back and I saw him bleeding bad. He made it behind a rock and i didn't see him for awhile. I carfully panned the area and waited, in my nice safe spot. A min or 2 goes by and I turn around just in time to see same guy with a red bandana/paydaymask and mosin with scope appearing behind me... I KO'd him and took his weapons and pants and all his food. When He regained consciousness i called him out on it and he just laughed and said he was a different person.

 

3 people on server....... red bandana/payday mask and same gun....  Is there future plans to curb this behavior?

BattlEye bans in waves if I'm not mistaken, so he should be gone sooner or later and chances are will return because of the games low cost. But when you knocked him out you should have checked to see if his clothing was ruined where you shot him on the hill, and if it wasn't ruined then it most likely was another guy, but the respawn timer after hopping servers make ghosting a lot less effective.

There are no future plans to curb it as far as i am aware, everyone working on this game remains completely silent about it and it is shameful. They may have something planned but nothing they have told anyone about and they certainly have not been reassuring the people whose game is being ruined by this issue that there is hope.

 

I think they are content with battleye, the exact same thing they had in arma 2 that never worked so forget what they add to this game, if they do not find a way to fix this issue then it will be the thing to ruin this game.

 

That being said you have to bear in mind that the design of this game really limits the scope of what hackers can actually do, they will never be able to do the crazy stuff they were able to do in the mod as most stuff is handled server side now so i don't think it will ever be that bad.

GameHack #38 is not an indication someone is hacking in DayZ, it means they have CheatEngine running (which may have nothing to do with DayZ) that's why it's a kick. If he was using it to hack in DayZ then he will likely be banned by VAC or BE in the next ban wave.

How do you know this out of interest, is there a list somewhere ??

Some of it experience over the years, you can also google "Gamehack #38" and see what comes up. And partly it's because we're in contact with BE.

As explained above, Gamehack #38 is not a ban because it's related to an external application which, whilst could be used to gain an advantage in DayZ, also has other applicable uses outside of DayZ and thus not uncommon for players to leave it running without using it, simply because they don't deem it as a cheat device, despite the name. They are kicked with an error code of Gamehack #38 so they can find out what is causing them to get kicked as opposed to outright banning them for this simple error.

 

Also, forgive me for straying slightly off topic here, but I'm beginning to see a trend I don't like;

 

Mountains of hackers posting to claim they were wrongly banned, BattlEye is accused of banning everyone indiscriminately by the community and is considered a trash anti-cheat.

 

One person is not immediately banned for something (which didn't even turn out to be specifically for hacks), BattlEye is not accused of not caring enough to ban any hackers and is considered a trash anti-cheat.

Three of us were at balota, we saw a group enter the jail cell closest to the hangars, so 2 of us took position in the atc, while one over watched in the apartments, as soon as our over watch gets a clear shot on one of the guys, he starts shooting at him, he tells us he is hitting him but he isnt dying, so we just thought he was missing, the group then circled back to the barracks, while they were moving, we take pot shots at them from the atc, so a lot of aggro zombies below, they got cover from behind the barracks so we waited for them to try and cross the airfield, our over watch scanning the wall by the tents... Im watching the door on the atc, im on the stairs, while my buddy was at the top atc, less than two minutes from when they disappeared from the barracks, one of the guys we were following just appears in the middle of the airstrip, then one appears on my door, i immediately shoot this guy with an sks to the head but nothing happened, then i just died... My friend then goes down from the top, sees the guy on top of me and unloads his m4.... Nothing happens... Guy shoots once with an m4 and my friend is dead... We were both fully healthy, wearing pristine everything, and i even had protector cases in my shirt and vest...

Next day... We re geared and came back to balota... We were in the atc again, this time i was behind a solid wall, crouched, and i was not in line of sight of any windows, i was guarding the door via 3pp, my body was not visible from the outside... And no, i was not glitching out of the wall, my backpack was not seen... I was on the the stairs, second stairs after the mid floor in line of sight of the door, a guy on the dirt road past the jail cell( close to the shed looking thing before the houses) shoots me through the wall, there was no sound, i thought it was an invisible zombie, my screen went gray, i broke my legs, then unconscious, then dead... My friend on top of the atc tried to check on me, he then gets shot, goes unconscious, he wakes up, bandages, and goes up the atc... Prone.... Gets shot from there too... My friend only saw him from his recording... He had an m4, from his position, he wouldnt have had a shot on my or my friend... And he wouldnt have been able to put down a healthy geared player that quickly from 150+ meters... He couldnt have killed a guy on top of the atc from there, no one was at sniper hill or the apartments coz we had an over watch there... Lets say he was an amazing shot, but he couldnt put people down that fast at those distances with an mp m4 with acog...
