Water Bladders + Blood Bag Improvisation Idea

Recommended Posts

The idea of a Water Bladder or also known as a Hydration pack is a backpack mounted water reservoir or "bladder" which allows a person to drink some water on the move. Their sizes range from 1.5 litre's to 3.0 litre's.

How it would work in-game is that it is a separate item that is stored in the backpack and with the use of the action menu, one can freely drink from the bladder without any animation. The downsides? Due to it's size, it takes up considerable backpack space and could be considered rare. In some regards, there could also be two variants a Civilian variant and a Military variant with the Military variant being the largest and most durable.

Additionally I had an idea about utilizing blood bags as an improvised water bladder, most common blood bags can hold anywhere from 0.5 to 1.0 litres of blood so technically shouldn't this also apply to water as well? You'd ruin the use of a blood bag for a transfusion (ruining the sterile nature of the bag) but you can use it as a small water bladder, alternatively, once disinfected, a blood bag can be "recycled" into a water bladder after a transfusion.

Just something I thought I could add to the world of DayZ

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm 99% sure that blood bags aren't empty when you find them.  They have some sort of liquid nutrient or saline solution or something in them to help preserve the blood or whatnot.  The amount of time it would take to legitimately rinse one of those out compared to how useful it would be... not worth it.  A Camelback/Hydration bladder would be pretty cool.  There could even be different variants.  There are some that are worn like a backpack in their own right and have ample room to store some water purification tablets on them.  There are some that are like a small backpack and could have moderate inventory.  There are even some that fit in specially made backpacks and don't take up extra room.  They actually wouldn't take up too much room in a backpack.  They are thin, therefore easy to fit in.  Would be a cool addition, but I vote on them not being larger than 3 squares and holding more water than a canteen... because they can.
