Crafting a small stove from an empty can

Time for me to hop in the cooking/crafting bandwagon. One man's trash is another man's treasure, right?

All you will need is an empty can, a knife and alcohol tincture (or some other fuel once it is implemented) to craft a small portable stove. It would obviously be less efficient than the portable gas stove that already is in the game, but it would take up less slots in your inventory. Opinions?

I had a topic discussing inprov. bow and crafting arrows.. but now that you mention this.. its awesome!

really good option to implement in dayz if you ask me.. why look for a stove when you can do a make-shift one on the fly.. this works in a pinch! nice one man!

The only problem is that you need to generate loads of empty cans and assuming that most of players will just trow them away it's a waste of server data . Maybe dev can add a single type of can useful for that purpose whit an ideal tight open that store a specific type of food (dehydrated meat?) something nearly uncommon like tuna cans, that will reduce the number of empty cans the server has to process

I was thinking of a stick with a knife attached to it (tape/rope is easy to find) to use as an improvised spear for hunting. Simply a sharpened stick would work as well, I suppose. It would be crude, but functional.

Just throw ya can of beans into the fire for a bit.  Used to do it all the time as a kid when we went camping.  Much easier than crafting...

Yep great idea on a side note to make it so that everybody dosent rely on just using tins they should have to use a prestine can, after every use it recives damage so then it forces you either find another can of the proper equipment :)

the idea is good, but spears in dayz? isnt that a bit.. ya know.. meh.. medieval the point is good.. kinda like rambo uses in his first movie to kill a bore from a tree by jumping down on it impaling it on his knife/spear

but the arrow crafting and bow making would be a good upkeep for players.. since crossbow bolts will become scarce in a post apoc. world since everyone wants them and there are no new one's produced since the factories shut down.

being able to craft your own arrows from sticks/branches would add something significant to dayz  and easy to re-produce since there are millions of trees in dayz ;)

I think a system comparable to that of the sewing kit would work well, yes. Nice one.

they should give us the ability to make hobo stoves out of coffee cans like this. they actually work pretty well.
