Question about pulse

So I haven't played in a while and I noticed the pulse feature. What do the pulses mean, if they have no pulse are they completely dead or can you bring them back with the defib. Thanks

Pulses are used to check whether or not someone is dead. You cannot bring them back to life with a defib, which is actually realistic. Rather, they are used for heart-attacks, which I'm fairly certain are in-game.
