RadikulRAM 6 Posted April 2, 2014 tl;dr: Is there a list of accurate descriptions of items, or are these held by the devs.? Hello, I recently got into DayZ again, and for the past 3 months I have not kept up. I came across a rain coat, and a wool coat. I wanted to know what they do, so I went ahead to the wikia.Instead of getting a description of what the item does in game, I got either the description from ingame or from the wikipedia. For example, on the ballistic helmet it says that it can survive 1-2 headshots from an M4. That is useful. But for the Rocket Aviators it says "Useful only in protecting the eyes from the sun, these glasses provide non-existent projectile defense and can give away your position when compared with camo gas masks or other face coverings." Does the sun have an effect in DayZ? Or is that just a description of what sunglasses do in real life? "The raincoat is perfect for long-term survival in wet conditions."Does it actually make a difference in game? I still got damp. If I wear the woolen hat, it says "One must be careful around water though, because knitted fabric tends to hold moisture for a long time, causing rapid heat loss and hypothermia." Is this true in game? Would it actually cause me to get ill more often if wet, or does it simply have no effect in game?
Geckofrog7 1168 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) The uses of these clothes will be added later when being wet or cold actually does anything. So far as I know, they aren't planning on making eye protection a key feature, though. Edited April 2, 2014 by Geckofrog7
So Sexy 259 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Being wet doesnt affect anything currently. All you need to know about the items is written in their description (right click > inspect ) Also I would suggest reading some steam guides, I think I saw one about items. sm00tje 88 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) It's mostly trial and error but there are guides on regenerating blood, what to keep and what not to keep etc. pp. Sun has no effect as of now.Rain has no effect as of now.Being wet will make you ill more easily in the future. Medical items you definetly want to keep are:blood bagstarter ivbandagessaline bagsblood test kitmorphine auto-injectorephinedrine defibrilator (if you run around with a friend)maybe alcohol tincture to force feed it to others (don't drink it unless you want to die)syringe to test the bloodtype (but blood test can also be used directly or on blood bags)charcoal tabs (should help with food poisoning, not too sure if it's implemented yet) hope this helps a little Edited April 2, 2014 by sm00tje
nl 986 Posted April 2, 2014 Any wool garment should be wet longer than other fabrics but NOT induce hypothermia faster since wool has the property of keeping it's insulating properties when wet. (IRL)
