TheRealDen 24 Posted April 2, 2014 okay here is the deal: Ruined stuff got thrown away, i don't like it. there should be a new tooltip "recycle". With it, you go ahead and transform the stuff in "parts". It matters, what category it is: "military parts", "medical parts", "industrial parts", "civil parts", ...The parts are 1x1, and can be stacked up to 9 or so, 3 parts can convert into one medium part, 1x2, and maybe a large part 2x2, containing 8 parts, also stackable to 9. With these parts you can duplicate stuff you allready have, imagine you had a destroyed round box and some ruined muni and magazines, now you recycle it in parts and drag them on an existing magazine for your weapon. If you have enough parts, they will be deleted and you get another magazine, "damaged" or "badly damaged" or maybe "worn". Of course you can't do it with all stuff like LRS, and you need lots of part, maybe a camping fire to craft it or some tape... But i think that would be cool stuff and make another playing style possible.
DropBearChick 1216 Posted April 2, 2014 I get what you mean but for example clothes, if there ruined there in tatters and probably not salvageable, and theyd be coverend in grime, blood and guts, somi dont think you coukd do it with clothes, or ammo, or food, drinks some meds
TheRealDen 24 Posted April 2, 2014 Maybe some more categories "supply parts", "clothes parts", "industrial parts", ...
JiJi (DayZ) 223 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) I could not cook a single fried egg with smashed eggs, but I could cook an omelette. This is the way I would more likely see recycling : get something else from original material. Example with ruined ammunition, recycle them could give a little heap of gunpowder (bigger if recycled better condition ammunition)Then what could be done with those "new" materials belongs to crafting possibilities. majo 23 Posted December 21, 2014 I like the idea of recycling /re-using items very much. Since the backpack room is limited I would like this option for some more items.Right now you can break down some crafted stuff into their components, like backpacks and splints. I'd like to see the option to use duct-tape on a fishtrap so I can use it as a water bottle again.Disadvantage: You have to desinfect the bottle and because it is fixed together with duct tape, it will not hold 100% water but only 75% or maybe 80%. VermillionX 78 Posted December 21, 2014 I like the idea of recycling ruined items, but all those "parts" just sounds unrealistic and wasteful coding-wise.It would be much simpler to have certain items be craftable in the same way that you can tear shirts into rags, relative to what they are. Example:Ruined Down Jacket + Knife (Disassemble) > 8-15 Feathers.Ruined Rider's Jacket + Knife (Disassemble) > 0-1 Leather Strap.Gorka/Hunter/TTsKo Jacket/Pants + Knife (Disassemble) > 0-2 Camo Cloth.Ruined Food + Hammer/Sledge/Baseball Bat (Mulch) > 1-4 FertilizerBaseball Bat/Pitchfork/Hockey Stick + Axe/Machete (Disassemble) > 0-1 Ashwood StickDrybag/Mountain Backpack/Taloon Backpack + Knife (Disassemble) > 0-2 Waterproof Fabric.Raincoat/Firefighter's jacket/Paramedic Jacket + Knife (Disassemble) > 1-2 Waterproof Fabric. -Fertilizer being usable on farmland in the same way as Garden Lime can be, though not as effective.-Camo Cloth being usable as a sewing kit to patch military clothing and backpacks, or as crafting material.-Waterproof Fabric being used to make an Improvised Tent or Raincoat.-Leather Strap being used in place of a rope for most crafting recipes or repairing shoes or other leather clothing, similar to a leather sewing kit.
TSVStriFe (DayZ) 13 Posted December 22, 2014 why not make the Gorka stuff the Insulating Fabric? I mean they're meant to keep you warm no? and that you can use those parts as temporary patches on your regular clothing and they get that specific bonus until it's weared down. This is only my idea/thought of this.
