TheRealDen 24 Posted April 2, 2014 So with this new feature you can find a ghetto blaster or a radio. Additionally, you have a subfolder in your DayZ Folder where you can put some MP3 files or similiar stuff. With a Battery or two, you can turn the shit on and switch between the mp3 files with some keys ingame.. of course the quality is not that good, like voice or walkie talkies. But it would be cool for driving when cars are online, when travelling with other persons or solo, or for some fun stuff. I think this would be a nice thing, imagine you go through a town and there is somewhere scary music playing and you don't know what to do, look for it or better go? I think there are many possibilities, not only entertaining but also distraction and deception.
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted April 2, 2014 The problem with this is that everyone would need to have the audio files on their computer to hear them. I'm not sure but they could possibly do something where the server 'sees' the files and uploads them to the server, but that might just be a legal headache not to mention a possible way to exploit/hack. Battlefield:Vietnam had something similar, where you could replace one of the preset 'radio stations' (songs) with your own songs. Thing is while you might be bumping Linkin Park on your radio, I'm still hearing Ride of the Valkyries on my end (I know because my old clan leader would keep his mic open and sing in Vent, I'd hear Linkin Park on his mic but something else would be playing on the vehicle radio). If they add in musical radios (they already have plans for Internet Radio stations on the Radios) it'll probably be 'public domain' type songs found on CDs or some other media (more than likely 'Russian'/Eastern European music rather than *Random American Musician*'s newest hit. TheRealDen 24 Posted April 2, 2014 No, no. You have the Radio. Your client. so you stream it, just like the voice chat. but you will hear it now to, so the server listen to your client and will stream it to everyone near you, including you. so all got the same. a virtual cable between you and the server that you dont hear, and then streamed by the server to everyone. JiJi (DayZ) 223 Posted April 2, 2014 (Some already do it by "hacking" voice chat or walkie-talkie)How much would it impact server performance if reserving/allowing x2 audio bandwidth (two channels data listening per player)?
TheRealDen 24 Posted April 2, 2014 not that much, zombies and stuff, syncing... that is maybe a problem, but just a second channel? not every player will ran around play his radio, just people for fun or to travel. if you want to kill some people, you will not play your favourite song (ingame)... thorison 9 Posted April 2, 2014 hacking? its called playing music on your ipad/iphone.android/laptop/etc and broadcast it through the mic.
irishroy 1347 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) you can do this already.(it's NOT hacking)and you don't just play music in the mic. this will give a very very poor music-quality ;)You work around via soundcard, stereo etc.So everything you hear on your PC will go through the "mic" in DayZ. then:=> activate voice-chat==> listen to a song on your PC===> profit Edited April 2, 2014 by irishroy

pacific_coast 632 Posted April 3, 2014 i like the idea, but no custom playlists, too unrealistic and has potential for trolling finding a cd or a cassette tape that has a random audio file on it to listen to would be cool we could collect records and singles like books and play them back on the stereo
AnyoneInCherno? 187 Posted April 3, 2014 The OP suggestion seems to be very much suggesting a system similar to All Points Bulletin: Reloaded
