[Discovery]Ragdoll Or Knockout Animation?

Recommended Posts

The weekend of the 22nd our group had played on the Experimental Hive. When done I Opted Out but never dl'd an update. It never kicked in. Tried this several x to no avail.

The night of this film, the what was percieved as a bug got so bad I was about to quit when a colonist suggested we play some Experimental. When I went over to Opt In it said I was still in Experimental. I Opted Out and finally started dl'ing the update. Went back to Regular Hive and everything was back to normal.

I posted this on Reddit and got the below reply from PurePassion from the BI Moderation team:
No, that is just the standard knockout animation that we already had in the game (Though I can't remember if it still was in the public Alpha as well).

Either way, that is definitely no first implementation of ragdoll :)

If he can't remember if it's in Public Alpha or not seemed a bit fishy to me as anyone that's played SA since it was released would know that this animation was NEVER in the game. Just found that bit odd. Maybe I'm wrong and if I am, I apologize.

So what do ya'll think: Knockout animation or an old version of Ragdoll?

Oh, Interesting.

It does look we are onto something, because as you can see when your friend falls down, his animation interacts with the ground, same as the Ragdolls.

Hey! It's Jonesy the cat!

On topic, that does look pretty interesting. Wonder what sets it off?

Wow, I am actually impressed you knew it was Jonesy and I am not impressed easily.

Beans for knowledge! :beans:

It isn't ragdoll since it is exactly the same movement repeated and it shows no interaction with the environment (the body being completely horizontal and not conforming to the slope). Still an interesting new KO animation, definitely better than the current one.

Not sure why they didn't put it in. Pretty cool imo. A little clunky but whatever.
