Everything that is in the .DayZProfile can be changed in the ingame options. There shouldn't be a need to change anything in there - especially as you can break your entire game when trying, whic his not a good thing.
belphegor_goatzombie 100 Posted March 29, 2014 ^ So i guess no?If there is documentation about this i would like to read it so i can input correct data and not break things down.
Sula 1205 Posted March 29, 2014 Not really. Why not just edit the in game options? It's not GTA and other disk based games where you can change settings to change game play.
belphegor_goatzombie 100 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) I am not trying to change gameplay, instead trying to see if i can squeeze more fps if possible.I have read pinned topic about "possible fps ench..." and saw other vars in file mentioned there and got curious if i can do something more. Am i allowed to alter that file without consequences? Edited March 29, 2014 by belphegor_goatzombie

Am i allowed to alter that file without consequences? You're talking about the wrong file then. The .dayzprofile will only really change your keybinds. Follow this guide for FPS enhancements. Anything else other than described in the guide will not give you any real FPS-enhancements: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154330-possible-fps-enhancer/ Edited March 29, 2014 by kichilron

St. Jimmy 1631 Posted March 29, 2014 If you want you can tune up the shadow view distance as far as 2000m to kill your performance :DView distance doesn't do anything and I think it's 3000m always no matter if you change it but you can change object distance as low as you want. chickenmcfuggits 49 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) Despite what is mostly being said so far in this thread, there is quite a few things you can change in that config (<user>.DayZProfile) to get more fps. Try changing these down near the bottom: sceneComplexity=150000;shadowZDistance=100;viewDistance=1400;preferredObjectViewDistance=1000;terrainGrid=6.125; This is what I have them set at for a low end computer so you may be able to adjust these much higher, I believe the "terrainGrid" option only accepts certain values so you can't just put anything there, see this thread or just don't change that one at all: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=216291078 It may or may not cause instability with the game(the terrainGrid one), but if it doesn't then there you go. This is the most unhelpful, arrogant forum I've ever seen as far as asking people about squeezing fps out of a game, so don't worry about it. It would be nice if they gave us an option to shift some of the dependance on the gpu and maybe not render every single thing in a 50 mile radius visible or not (minecraft style). This game could be much MUCH less demanding for what it is, but its alpha so I guess we'll see what happens. This thread has pretty much everything I said here and more: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154330-possible-fps-enhancer/ Edited March 30, 2014 by Chzy
