Drop button..

I would like there to be a drop button.. so you instantly drop anything in your hands, without animation playing out, to the ground.

 

This would be most useful when surprised by another player or zombie, so that you could drop whatever is in your hands and move quickly. 

 

I think the best implementation would be either a key that can be remapped in the assignments area, or by default set it up as part of the mouse wheel scroll similar to how the mods and Amra work. Scroll mouse wheel, see 'inventory and drop' as options.. etc. then you have to hit select to actually drop it.

 

Later down the road when it matters more that things can be ruined while using them, this will actually I believe be a necessity as the UI for dropping a ruined weapon takes a long time and forces you to bring up your inventory.

Just thinking of it now.

 

 

Enter a building which has known hostiles in it. Take down 2 with a sawn off, drop it and pull magnum and fire all six while going for cover. Reload as bullets wizz by. New rounds in the magnum you glance to the sawn off, realizing it is just out of reach you return fire with the magnum, the rest go down. You walk up to one of the guys you shot with a sawn off, he's bleeding with broken legs and just gotten conscious from the shock. Then you say "Well I know what your thinking. Did he fire six shots or only...(finish it yourself i CBF to do it)"

 

Zoom out to a friendly sniper on a hill. A single shot is heard from the building. The radio is silent. *Radio static*"Building clear"*Radio static*

Or pull a sawn off/magnum/pistol/rifle/axe/ect

Should it be:

1:press drop button to drop item and stop animation

2:take weapon in hands

Or

1:Take weapon in hand and automatically drop

the animation and whatever item had in your hands?

I think the second, where you have to either use the scroll wheel or gear menu to keep something from your hands in your inventory. If someone comes at you with a knife and you are armed IRL are you going to put that hotdog that you are eating away or are you going to let it hit the floor without thinking as you go for your gun?
