(gp)echo 0 Posted June 25, 2012 Driving me crazy. These guys have a permanent hard on or something cause they are so hardcore :huh:Stick your veteran servers up your arse. Why would you want to play on anything other than veteran or expert servers? This is Arma2 after all; realism is built directly into its DNA.Servers that have tags are terrible. They completely ruin the immersion of the game, make life difficult for snipers, and introduce horribly unrealistic and unnecessary risk.
Stealth (DayZ) 3 Posted June 25, 2012 Seriously, the game isn't supposed to be easy....If you have such a issue, purchase ur own server with a few friends, if you have any, and set it to easy carebear mode.

Survivor666 5 Posted June 25, 2012 In veteran there is nothing hard. You just have to get the hang to the game :)~TS666
rancor26 0 Posted June 25, 2012 Veteran=No CH or 3P(except on some servers) which makes for much more realistic experience and are usually the servers i play on.Regular=Allows you to see players name on your aim even through walls, tells you the range and allows you to switch to 3P which i dislike. Only time i play on regular servers is when i have CZ550 because that weapon is completely useless on veteran servers.

Powermolch 3 Posted June 25, 2012 Here we go again. The elitist players jumping at the throat of new players."LOL U SO SCRUB U NEED TO ISNiPeEzzzz"Cant read anything like that. Can see a post of a player who complains about the type of server people are running mostly (Cause Vet Servers without Names/Crosshairs are the most demanded type of Server)and comments with "Stick your Servers up your arse".And you are jumping on this thread to create more unrest. How is the CZ550 useless on Veteran? It's pretty inaccurate and calculating the range on it is pain in the ass. So i'd rather just see the range on regular servers so i actually have a chance to hit moving targets

Can see a post of a player who complains about the type of server people are running mostly (Cause Vet Servers without Names/Crosshairs are the most demanded type of Server)and comments with "Stick your Servers up your arse".And you are jumping on this thread to create more unrest.I can understand the players who were around for a long time, they've got used to it and they're good at it and can handle the veteran servers etc. But I just hate when everyone seems to be coining the term 'carebear' and going off the handles at people who might not be as skilled as them yet. I suppose when the mod first began (I wasn't around THAT early) most of the servers will have been regular so that people could get used to the game, and adapt which the new players now don't really have that much of. However there are still regular servers out there, so OP should just keep looking for those.Anyway, I'm under the impression anyway that there are a lot of veteran servers with 3DP on, and CH on? So if this is the case, doesn't it just make it a regular server anyway, even though it has the Veteran/VET tag in the server name?
Powermolch 3 Posted June 25, 2012 I guess Nametags are the worst thing on Regular Servers. Running through the Woods and seeing a Name in your middle of your Screen like "Player 1 283m" without even a chance to see him "really". Especially when you only can talk about 60 metres. After taking out a guy I could have never seen I stopped to play on Nametag Servers in General. Most Servers have very Different Rules -CH0/1, 3DP 0/1, Nametags, Map Waypoints, Showing Players on Map and so on. Best is to stick to a Server you like. Most Servers have partially the same Communities. So sticking to a Server you like helps finding friends and you dont have to look for special Server Settings again if you found one. ;)
xJakeyy 6 Posted June 25, 2012 I never knew that it was regular servers that showed the nametags and veteran didn't, I'm definitely sticking to veteran from now on ;)

I'd rather have an easily changeable zero than calculate mil-dottage on a DMR. To each their own, I suppose.
BL1P 252 Posted June 25, 2012 So many damn veteran servers!?!?I agree we need more Mercenary and Expert servers. There are too many Beginner , Veteran servers.Good spot OP :P
Lukio (DayZ) 24 Posted June 25, 2012 I'm for a unified experience across all DayZ servers. Maybe 3P on, CH off, everything else off.
Amra (DayZ) 0 Posted June 25, 2012 The best advice to OP is to rent his own server. Then make it with 3dp, crosshair and name tags. Rent it, setup it and shove it up your 455.
Powermolch 3 Posted June 25, 2012 I never knew that it was regular servers that showed the nametags and veteran didn't' date=' I'm definitely sticking to veteran from now on ;)[/quote']Regular/Vet/Expert doesnt mean much, you still can edit the settings manually. But most Servers choose the "Level" thats next to the Settings they want and manually edit the rest.
Rehclip 0 Posted June 25, 2012 Nametags in this game is as good as cheating in my book. Its so easy to use it to find someone before you even see them.

Molten 0 Posted June 25, 2012 To op.Server saying regular or veteran etc quite often means nothing. It's the settings they use that counts.A server can say regular and have all the settings like 3rd person, crosshairs etc switched off.So my advice is only use the regular / veteran server name as a guide. Also most regular servers don't have nametags enabled. (thank fek)It's not always what it says on the tin...Additional note: Not all, but a lot of players who play on servers with no corsshairs put a small dot on the monitor screen itself in the position of where the crosshair goes when looking down the iron sights. In effect giving them an advantage.

To each their own, I suppose.[/quote']Without reg server range finders, mil-dots are the best way for estimating range accurately. There's a post on reddit regarding this, I believe. Target height x 1000 divided by the number of mildots it occupies for the range in meters. All humans in DayZ are 1.8m high. Zeroing your scope is essentially just picking one of the mil-dots, since it only goes in increments of 100m; it's the same thing. The only downside is 800m range when others can go up to 1200m. I've never had to shoot that far, though.
