Allow Private servers

Recommended Posts

Basically just as it states, this will solve so many problems at the moment. Just allow them while its alpha, simple as that. Still get the testing done, and people can avoid the KOS maniacs, hackers, bug exploiters etc etc etc. Just allow them for petes sakes.

Well perhaps you should explain how it will solve many of the current problems?

Arent they suppose to actually create the private servers and hives, before they allow them?

Or are you talking about allowing whitelist and password on public hive servers? Coz that a very bad idea, full of exploit options mate.

Like Inception said, you need to explain what you are talking about, just a weee bit better :)

We have people who want to play the game differently, we have KOS, and then we have survival/explorer people, the later would have somewhere to go, for one. Seen a post by someone saying about hackers and bug exploiters, it would solve that, they could individually "vet" them coming in then, because currently the server hosts are one warning away from getting it shut down from kicking those sort of people, they pay good money for the pleasure of very little. And yeah pass worded i mean. As for exploitable, can only mean gear cant you, taking it to other servers, well, yeah it may happen but it currently does anyway, people are stocking in the emptier severs going to the fuller and using it. No difference.

So basicly you want to be able to put password on public servers, so you can create a small "carebear explorer" community?

I dont agree at all.

If you want a server with more PVE focus, wait for the private servers to come along, we should never use the public servers for this tbh.

And BI should NOT endorse anything like this, yes people might be gearing up on low pop servers and going to high pop servers for fun, but do you really want the developer to say "yes thats totally fine, abusse the mechanics of the game, we dont care, we actually endorse it." ??? Coz i truly dont, nobody would want that tbh.

However i understand what you mean, when it comes to "hackers", glithcers and exploiters, doing what they do and the server admins have very little to do about it.

But this is not the solution, we certaintly dont want the public hive to allow whitelist or password, on any server.

What we need is better tools for the admins imo, give them ways of identifying cheaters and exploiters instead.

The thing we have is, we have people going to quieter servers to stock up, switching to full ones, killing fresh spawns and anything else when fully geared, when they die, repeat. We have hackers, bug exploiters and the rest of it. We have KOS's who ruin a few days worth of progress, doesnt matter whether it is in a full server or one with 5 in, ive been killed in both numerous times. Which yes, fair enough, its part of the game play how you want etc etc.... BUT, for the people who do not want to play that way, they have no where to go, no option, Kill or be killed, hence at the moment, this game is the same as any other, PVP fest. Allowing private servers would at least give people an option. Its pretty straight forwards how much it would solve until completion. Because i think many more will leave over the coming months over these problems.

Im not referring to "care bear", what im reffering to is a place for somewhere with a tiny chance of a bit of so called balance, because it is a slaughter fest, kill or be killed. No inbetween, no nothing. And quite frankly its boring the heck out of me.

Simply you dont get to play how you want because others dictate how it comes down, KILL OR BE KILLED.

There are many people already running semi-private servers, but instead of password protecting their server since this will result in their server getting banned, they instead ask all theirs buddies to run certain [tags] or clan tags in their character name and immediately kick anyone that joins the server and doesn't have it. I get kicked from at least 2 servers a night. Heck last night I joined 3 different servers and each one as soon as I spawned in, kicked me, no reason just kicked.

I can understand them doing so really, to avoid the problems other players predominantly bring with them, KOS, hacks etc, . But, if they get reported for doing it a few times, they will end up getting their server shut down. If people want to pay the grossly over priced costs of a server, they should be able to do as they please in it and with it. If it was allowed to be password'ed  then at least people wouldn't waste their time joining. I just cant think of much else at this early stage that could help this game as it is now, because ive seen alot of posts from people who have had enough already of this kill fest purgatory, and you only have to look on the numbers on steam of people playing to know its dropped significantly.

Pretty much this.  I feel the current server reporting process is unacceptable as well.  I've yet to see a server I've reported be taken down, plus I see plenty of servers with passwords up already.  Maybe I'm wrong in this assumption, but I feel like nobody is actually enforcing the current server rules.  BIS has, for whatever reason, put that duty in the players hands, and the server host companies benefit more by pretending to enforce these rules, than actually enforcing them.

Private hive servers are a better idea.

A new profile for just that server, and whitelisted, it's its own little world.

And the best part is, non exploitable.

But, if another server is running part of that hive set (or whatever it's called), you could move back and forth between them

I don't get it, what's the point...

When private servers, with private hives, keyword PRIVATE, come. It will essentially do the same thing. Yet, at the same time, stop people from farming on them, and switching to the public servers...

Whenever I'm fed up with this, i just go to a low-pop and stay away from airfields, berenzino, and elektro. I now know an area of the map i never bothered with in the mod - Msta/Staroye/Khelm.

Now before anyone starts saying im server hopping - before i go to pvp again, i kill that character and restart on the full-ish servers.

The only possible option for this is to have one private server for Youtubers, big youtubes. Not saying they'd use it, but put it as a youtube test server, privated, with no loot at all?

To the OP, I feel your pain. Our clan leader rented a stand alone server, when it first opened we saw traffic only at server restarts, we would then check all the "hot spots" And low and behold they had all been hit. When we started posting people at these spots for server restarts and shooting the server hoppers things started to settle down. Our server still sees a bit of server hopping traffic but the idea of getting some lead poisoning for their troubles seems to have detered most of them. As far as the hacker issues, we've only seen a few that were blatantly hacking.

Some people here on the forum/game seem to think this game revolves around running and gunning and the idea of cooperation is foreign. Any ideas you may have about fun are lost to them, after all thats what Dayz is right? One giant game of kill anything that moves. I may be crazy but I think we might be able to "test" more if we weren't getting shot all the damn time. Perhaps the dev team can come out and say "hey guys, the shooting and killing mechanics have been tested enough and are working as intended....go find something else to do", until that time we will have to suffer the idiots and douche bags who can't live knowing their KDR isn't going up
