Cash

Recommended Posts

A friend and I had an idea about a relatively pointless trash loot. Cash/coins/pre infection money.

Worthless after the apocalypse, but now that persistent storage is coming, something to grab from house/zombies/other players.

Even though there is nothing to buy, I'd still hoard it. Rob other players to take nothing but their cash, trade food and drinks with low gear players in exchange for relatively worthless cash.

Nice idea! I'd imagine you could use the money for some things too, tinder for the bills and maybe... a makeshift screw driver for coins?

Start a fire with it.

If there would be dollars in DayZ just for fun, would use it to light my campfire.

Are there any plans to introduce NPC traders?

Maybe gold could be used to buy stuff from them...

It's planned... They are giving us an open-world on which they let us organize ourselves, so they'll have fun seeing if a worthless currency would become something you can really buy stuff with. I'm sure some players will become merchants and rip people off to get a benefit on what they buy from other players, and others will sell their useless stuff after a loot run.

Epoch trade system should stay the fuck out of vanilla and SA for chrissake. Anything from trading to pooping should be sone by players only...i would accept some ai survivors ( with minimal weapons though ) on servers with almost no player population ( f.e. the pve community ) just to fill out the gaps...but that would be borderline acception.

I wonder how many traders will actually survive their first trade unless they have an army guarding them...not possible without respect and everyone thinking "yolo, why not just take it"?

Yeah, devs bluntly said, "No NPC's, EVER!"

Yes, it would be a rush to have these sorts of stand offs. Of course, merchants would come prepared with a over-watch on the hill: "don't do anything stupid or my friend will blow your head off". If not, they wouldn't be be merchants very long...

Tense trade deals with suitcases full of cash would be amazing. Snipers sitting in towers watching over the buyer etc. Even if cash is a worthless item, I think it would add a lot of rp options for people.

Seems pointless to me. Why not go down the Metro 2033 line and use bullets and high-quality gear as a currency. You know. Like you might expect in a zombie apocalypse.

It is pointless, like the bright red boonie hats and such. Would still be an interesting addition.

It's true that munition would make nice currency but the addition of money can be interesting to watch. Devs want to add it because it doesn't require much work and adds to the game in unpredictable ways.

Munition works as a currency but at the same time, I would be edgy about giving bullets to potential enemies.

Yeah, that would be the fun of it as well :)

If cash is added for a currency type system I would be okay with it... I just hope it doesn't turn into a god awful inflation game like Dead Frontier..

It would only be a currency if people used it as one.

Will accept any and all kinds of collectible trash loot.

I'll be filling tents with books the moment I can. Mainly so people think they are in luck finding a tent. Bam. Books and a note that says Knowledge is power.

Hey guys, we have drink vending machines all over the place, right? [Hospitals, etc.]
How about allowing them to be broken open, smashing the majority of the cans/snacks and leaving a few, OR hooking the vending machine up to a generator and feeding it cash for a long term snack supply [great for base building]?

Edit-forgot to finish writing "hospitals"; also, we could add more vending machines in areas such as Green Mountain to make it more campable if you're carrying dolla dolla bills on your person.

Beans to that.

Drag a vending machine into a truck, back to camp, rig up a generator. Insert cash, gain cans till it runs out.
