DayZ standalone set password?

Hey ,

today i purchased a server from fragnet but i want to play private with a few friends :(. but i dont know how i set a password. Some servers in serverlist do already have a private status. so does anyone know how to do it?

As far as I know, setting a password is against the terms and conditions of renting a Standalone server. This is to discourage loot farming.

And it seems quite redundant to make your own server just to play with like 4/5 friends. Just do that on any server. no PVP is utterly pointless.

You may have good intentions and use for the passowrd, but too many little kiddies running around HURR DURR I GOTZ A SRVER would begin locking them to farm all that loot. So in short you can not lock your servers.

Well that isn't really for me to decide, If there are ever Private Hives then I don't see any reason it shouldn't be. You can't set a password currently, because you aren't supposed to.

Also a quick note, if you kick users from your server then they can complain to the provider and your server will be "taken down" without a refund.

the key is in the word " saturation". it means there will be a significantly INCREASED number. I don't mind some heavily armed dudes. but when there's 20/40 heavily armed and have no risk to take then due to their private farming areas, then that's an issue for me.

Private hives = the gear you get there ONLY works there.

Yeah but private hives do not exist yet, so what people are trying to do is setup "Private" servers.  There is a big difference IMHO.

The thing is, as much as I try to be the good guy helping to make the game better and report these clan "private" servers who kick me and others off when they want to, the server providers don't do shit about it lots of times.

 

Maybe it's just bad luck.

 

And you're right, there is a big difference.

 

It's the "private" clan servers in public hives that allow you using your easily looted overpowered gear on other public servers.

 

Private hives are no problem, people's character data once they join is only stored in that specific hive, so you'll only play with that overpowered gear on servers that belong to that hive.

I have read the same issues with nothing being done to enforce the server rules.  Kind of lame.

so exactly what is 'overpowered' gear in this game? People talk about server hoppers, but some of the most dangerous players only need a weapon/scope to take a whole team out. They might not need to hop to get it. or just a guy with an M4 and a clip or two. I haven't seen overpowered yet.

Practice, and patience young grasshopper. I guess once they have private servers, they might be a problem. as it is, i have about 8 servers on my fave list, and i usually pick one or two at night and see what happens. i also get a quick login in the mornings before i leave, and those same servers are always empty then. I pick one and hit a high value area for lootz. It usually works good, but the server I tried this morning had already been looted, and that is the new city north of the NEAF. I was shocked. I think he must have been as geared as me though, as he left behind lots of ammo and guns that he didn't pick up.

He's telling the truth, he plays on his own - 2 weekends ago I saw someone was on his server ALL alone, ALL Saturday night, so I went over to invite him to mine, because our server was a rave -lot of action, with some kind of squeaky teen military brigade (good nice dudes, ok nice cool) trying to impose martial law and a bunch of anarchists doing.. anything whatever (jumping off towers and trying to catch each other?) The beach road was like D-Day. At the Fields the hoppers and snipers were fighting it out for the Last Gun.. ya know, ya know Saturday Night..

So I went on that Admin's server to say hello - him being all ALONE on Saturday Night - and in the time it took me to see it was INDEED the server Admin, I was kicked. (lol)

Like the dude says .. NO ONE PLAYS ON MY SERVERS UNLESS I PLAY ON MY OWN ..

 

I think he probably turns it off when hes not on line.

You think that's sad? I think that's sad.. but he doesn't want to come out to play.. he was still there alone after 1 am.  OK

Why dont they just put the function down that your keep your inventory on every single server? it would make tha game so much better. I dont want to run it as a loot farm lol. There would be 20-30 guys but PRIVATE. Btw. How i can set my self as admin on the server or using commands?
