Land Navigation made simple

1. Find an in game map.

2. Open the map.

3. Find where you want to go.

4. Hold down shift...and left click the location. You will mark map with circle with a dot in the middle.

5. Close the map.

6. Now you can see a way point with the distance in meters.

7. Wedge something in your W key and autorun (ROFL)

8. Too easy.

Most servers have this feature in game. Not many know about it, unless they have played Arma in the past. This has been a public service announcement. Now be prepared to never get lost.

Can also auto-run by, if running through steam, holding W while hitting Shift+Tab to open up the overlay. When you close the overlay, you will be auto-running (or walking, use Shift to change).

i use a small screw driver and slide it under my S key so it puts the weight down on the W so i always go forward!

I play on a server labeled Hardcore, no 3rd person, no crosshair

Yet the marker works perfectly fine, as long as you have a map

90% of the servers I play on, which are all veteran, have it enabled.

I do not play on servers with nametags, map markers (shows your location and other players on map), or crosshairs. All of these setting are controlled by the server admins.

Also the ingame map is great for landmarks and elevation/contour lines to navigate with, if the feature is not working. Other than that, about 1-2 days of gameplay you pretty much know where you are without any map.

Mapmarkers are visible on all maps, not just yours (afaik).

So there is always a chance that somebody will be waiting at that location...to see who will show up.

Mind you, this can be a 'good' or a 'bad' thing, it all depends on the person waiting.

I use my laptop for the map
