The way I understand it, having a vest or chest piece doesn't provide "additional protection" insofar as damage reduction.  I think the point of the videos showed that even while wearing a vest your character takes the same amount of damage as if they were wearing only a hoodie or t-shirt or whatever.

Haha, I respect that, man.  Do what you have to do to survive. I wouldn't have won nearly half the battles if I hadn't had some liquid courage myself.
