Ok seriously whats with the string of recent small patches? [Experimental]

Recommended Posts

This isn't what im used to seeing from this game, usually they do a patch then give a changelog, ive seen 3 patches in varied sizes all less than 200megs and still no word. I don't lurk the devtracker much, is there something on there?

wow

read my post again

Ill just point it out to make it quick.

First off you linked me the stable patch...experimental had that stuff for weeks.

Secondly, im asking about patches that came AFTER that patch.

Third and finally, i clearly stated experimental....tell me what branch does it say in the very first line on your second link.

Well, its exactly how BI handled the experimental branch in Arma III, so im not that surprised.
Basicly the developers just uploaded "finished" stuff to the branch, almost on a daily basis, and then they started testing it out.

It could be what they are doing here.

forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/180987-so-how-is-experimental-currently/

patches are part of an extensive data capture to find out exactly what is happening in the client/server communication.

There is no changelog done for backend changes as per Hicks.

Well because that were backend patches, which do not get a changelog.

These patches are either ones to gather data for the dev team or hotfixes where they are not sure if they will work as planned.

e.g. about the patch yesterday:

I fully expect people to have issues connecting, or possible server connection issues. What is important here, is we've identified some of the cause - resolved it, and are using these servers to capture network traffic data to identify -exactly- when/why/how etc the remaining network issues occur. Tomorrow when we get in, we'll turn the servers off - and parse the data.

and the other one:

We'll be pushing a test hotfix to Experimental Branch later tonight

my patch was 1GB big ^^

That was the patch for stable. Slyguy asked about the exp patches ;)

Stable is Alpha, Experimental is 'preliminary testing'. I'm actually surprised they ever released info on Experimental. Seems counter to the speed so many are complaining about for updates. Not sure why they didn't release anything on these, but maybe something to do with the angst of late about the stable delays and subsequent update.

Dean Hall ‏@rocket2guns 8m

We're working very hard on a hotfix for the lag and desync issues being experienced by many. Lots of testing on experimental #dayzdaily

Answered what I was asking

Weird I just find it odd considering they just started this like this month I haven't seen these hotfixes in the previous months, or at least not so many.

Also does anyone know why the experimental servers are down? I checked about 3 times on different days, and there is just never any up maybe like 1 or 2 empty European or Australian ones but thats it
