Possible to snipe with M4?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to get in a sniping position that is roughly 700m away from my anticipated target. I can't find a LRS to save my life. I do have a bipod, MP buttstock, and MP handle with a pristine acog. Is it possible for me to hit someone at 700 with the M4? Or am I better off continuing to try to find a LRS?

Also, I know the actual magnification of the acog is 1.56. What is the actual mag of the LRS?

No clue if you'r aware of, but the LRS won't fit the M4.

Hittin someone within 700m M4 is possible but imho more luck then anything else - even if u hit u gonna need several shots.

I don't know if you can hit someone from 700m with an M4, I honestly think you would have a hard time with it given it only zeros to 300m (if I remember right).  The LRS won't connect to your M4 (not sure if you knew that, your post made it sound like you were wanting it for the M4).

LRS doesn't go on the M4.

But no, I wouldn't suggest sniping with the M4. It won't do enough damage or be accurate enough.

Acog zeros down to 700.

.

This makes no sense. Just put a pair of rings and the lrs mounts easily.

It is far easier to mount a scope to an M4 than I would be to a mosin.

Hopefully they rethink the accessories and have them be mountable in a realistic fashion. Meaning no bipods no western scopes on the mosin.

I forgot that, my respawn basic M4 only goes to 300, I forgot the acog does 700. Thanks for fixing that for me.

They will possibly do this when their is a good amount of snipers available thing about it. The Mosin is he only gun that is manageable enough to be used as a make shift sniper.

Just wait till there is more :D

currently m4+magpul+bipod+acog+maxFOV can hit in the 500-700m range...it's really not worth the time and effort, just grab a mosin

In games, automatic weapons tend to be close-quarters weapons. The more powerful the weapon, the slower the rate of fire (to get some balance) all the way up to bolt-action rifles (what you really should be using for long-range attacks)

Yeah sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant whether I should give up my mosin for the M4 since I cant find a LRS. With the acog, it will zero to 700, but I wasnt sure how difficult it was to hit something from that range with it.

I already have a mosin, but I can't hit 700 because I don't have an LRS and in 500 hours of play, have never seen one except off of a corpse.

I have not shot anything much beyond 400m.. so cant really say what its effective distance is, but I would think the max is not beyond 600m for the M4 ACOG.

You gotta have MP handguard and buttstock if you want your spread to be manageable also.

The Max range is indeed 600m.

However with MP parts and a bipod you can easily hit targets at 600m and bevond, dont expect to get kills unless it is a headshot.

You will also need to control your bewatering,Just make sure you have assigned a extra key for that (i use mouse 5)then you should be alright.

Please tell us where those "pair of rings" spawn in chernarus.

why would you want to snipe with an M4?

Why wouldn't he in the last 20 years the deadliest small arm in us forces hands has been an mk12 spr.

The mark 12 is a semi automatic m4 with an 18 inch barrel with a 1:8 rifling twist that let's it stabilize heavy.. 5.56 nato rounds such as the 77 grain Sierra match king. These new bullets easily go past 1000yards and deliver horrific wounds.

I don't want to snipe with an M4. I want to snipe with a mosin, but I can't because I can't hit 700m without a LRS and LRS are nowhere to be found

Any 30mm rings would work. Meanwhile mounting it on the mosin requires tons of fun smithing and a specialized mount that perhaps only 100 or so exist.

i don't give a fuck what's happening in the real world, in case you haven't noticed, DayZ is far from the real world; mainly because its a fucking game.

so you can stop with all your shit that has nothing to do with DayZ.

Fine let me dumb it down to your level of intellect.

Bullets hurt, bullets kill, m4 bullets kill too.

sniping with assault rifle is stupid, especially in games; yes sniping with an assault rifle IN REAL LIFE happens and can work well if enough skill is used.

but you keep missing the point that this is DayZ not fucking military simulator 3000.

oh and its alpha.

To add to this, bullets fly really far really fast.

An M4 fires bullets.

Therefore an M4 can fire bullets really fast really far.

I mean, saying the SPR (and whichever variety of 5.56 used, be it Sierra or Black Hills) would be "devastating" at 1000m isn't necessarily accurate. I have never heard of a confirmed kill at those ranges with an SPR, ever. But that's just me talking.

But, bear in mind, the M4 ain't a SPR. So, it's sort of a moot comparison until they throw a SPR in the mix in DayZ.

And saying that it's the "deadliest small arm in us forces hands" isn't accurate either.

Mk 11/M110 is more plausible to be effective at 1000m.

Relatively on-topic, however, I think that if an attachment can realistically fit on a weapon... then it should be able to. A LRS on an M4 probably wouldn't make sense for many scenarios, and would be wholly outclassed by even the most basic bolt-action and/or 7.62 sniper rifle. But, it should still be an option eventually.
