NVIDIA NVS 5200M video card

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if this video card is supported/will work? I want to buy this but will have to run it on my laptop which has the specs for it other than the video card. The card has 1GB dedicated memory and 3GB shared, system has 8GB. The card is not a gaming card though.  :(

Imo that isn't a gaming gpu either...

The NVIDIA NVS 5200M is an entry-level, dedicated business graphics card for laptops. It should be based on the 28nm GF117 Fermi chip, but 40nm GF108 versions are also possible. According to the specifications, the NVS 5200M is very similar to the consumer GeForce GT 620M but with slightly reduced clock rates

I assume since you say your original gpu seems to be outdated that your whole system is far from suboptimal for playing the game....save the money, wait until DayZ has progressed to a playable state and then get a decent desktop pc...

All my other specs are fine... i5-3232M 2.6GHz, quad core, 8GB RAM, plenty of disk.

A workmate has an i5 ( dunno the type but it's also 2.6ish ) and a GTX? 640M he has around 30fps, playable but tough on you in towns. Doesn't really matter if you have 50gb or 1TB free hdd space, RAM should be at 4GB minimum, windows unfortunately requires a lot for itself already.

So I took the chance and bought it... not sure what the performance or quality is on other graphics cards but its pretty good on mine. I'm sure it would be better on a gaming card but this is what I've got and I'm not upgrading for a game so I'll deal.  :)

DayZ is more CPU intensive than GPU.
