I'm assuming you're saying make some sacrifices for space slots and to that all I have to say is, people will always go for the most optimized option, which in this case would be slot space, which is ttsko gear....

i've to say, after lot of hours in ttsko or similar high capacity equip, the game is more funny with common survivor vest, now i go for raincoat and cargo pants, and in most cases that avoid beeing shooted at first sight, ttsko and other military oriented equip seems make other people shot easy  ;) 

Btw anyone can chose what wear, personally actually i don't love military oriented look and i'm playing without any space problem (also with torch and gas lamp 'cause we play also nightime), i  see many players bring lot of ammo with them but you really don't need 4 60 rounds m4 magazines in your pocket, shootings usually will end before you can load the 3nd magazine

and as information: flack jacket has 0 slot  ^_^
