Will DayZ SA die out to Mods just like the Mod did?

I think that's a very negative view on the game's development, and speaks volumes for your lack of video game development knowledgement. It takes years to develop and release a game, upwards of 2, sometimes 3 for a game with a very barebones base. It's not like development for games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive which had a fantastic pre-established game base and engine to go off of. My only fear is that players and members of the community like you will drag the developers and development down with your negative attitude. If you don't like the game or where you "think" it's headed, you can go ahead and leave.

This one has been worked on for at least a year and a half now, actively.

Dont forget that without modding DAYZ would never have existed.

 

I dont think the SA will "die" but it will evolve into something very "other" and there will be very many diluted "easy" servers. We saw it in the mod and theres no reason to imagine that the playerbase will vastly change. (except in scale)

 

People do not like delayed gratification and want all the things.

 

But on the flip side, tanks to the games popularity, hopefully there will be a quite a few Vanilla or tweaked servers for us to join that still keep the DAYZ ethos.

 

Im not concerned about modding,just as long as I have a decent server browser to exclude the servers I dislike.

exactly..

 

i hear alot about modding = 1000cars/full loot spawn, and i understand those servers exist.

 

but it doesnt mean EVERY mod servers does.

 

 

i play several different dayz mod versions and NONE of the servers i play on have those features at all..

 

my current favortite mod is "unleashed" which  is about as close to vanilla as can be but it has roaming AI npcs baddies fighting a 3 sided war.. (army AI vs Bandit AI vs Player)

 

its AWESOME... i wish /hope someone makes a unleashed mod for SA.

 

ps Unleashed always has its own custom map which is fantastic

Obviously the sa version has to be better than the arma 2 mods or there is no point in buying it.

This means it shouldn't require mods until players get bored with the core features.

What the arma 2 mods do, is provide the sa team with a challenge and a testbed.

 

Dayz will die a natural death, get reanimated by mods, die again shortly after and then respawn in Dayz ll, The road to Moscow, with a brand new custom designed engine, connected servers and countless maps and features that are yet to be glimmers in the dev teams eyes.

Well I never really expected this may replies but, the mod has pretty much died out of vanilla DayZ, whats to stop the SA from doing it? There's barely any difference.

There are 2 kinds of mods. Mods that add to the game and mods that change the spirit of the game. The dev team must anticipate the first kind so those would be mods will be core. Eventually players will get bored with the core and the second kind of mods can be allowed to increase the lifespan of the game and provide the next testbed and challenge for Dayz ll.

To the guy who asked: yes they have confirmed it will be moddable eventually.

Personally..looking forward to private servers. Sick of the bandits and want to make a little base.
I also want to play on an extra hard server like someone else mentioned. One hit kill zombies would be good (and hordes of them)

I think zombies should be feared as much as players

I hated the dayz mod mods, the only OK one was 2017, and I hear they're making a 2017 mod for Arma 3 on Altis, which is awesome, and what they totally should've done with the SA, altis is sooooo much better than chernarus

I prefer one version of the game. As opposed to a ton of slightly modified versions of the same thing.

I think the problem wasn't that the mods were slightly modified versions of vanilla, but more that they were heavily modded versions of vanilla.

 

I am open to mods, but they have a tendency of over doing it. Heli tows, 500+ vehicles, protective dome bases, self blood bags, teleporting, admin tools, etc.

 

What Bohemia needs to do is show no mercy with servers doing donator load-outs and etc. One guy from dayz.net, Freaking Fred was charging 10 bucks per vehicle. You should have seen his list of in-game buyable items. Fucking disgusting.

 

If they banned those guids the modding world won't turn to shit.

I would like a expanded Namalsk version for SA, no starting kit, no nothing, just a bigger map based on Namalsk.

Oh yes, how could I forget Taviana, it would be awesome map for SA, but again no starting kit no easy ways, just the map.
