Where are the updates? **crickets chirping**

Recommended Posts

You ungratefull little fu""s

You were told from the start that the game was a work on proggress.

We should be gratefull that "we" get to play at this stage.

Now you hating because the patches have slowed down?

You know if the team didn't work double time on bugs, not fixing anything we would have 100 topics

on this forum bitching about the invisible zombies and such.

It's a painfully sloooooow process to make the game right

and not like a turd wrapped up in a present box.

You have to be patient.

you dont know the value of money yet kid

we paid for a game

they have not spent any of our money on the development

they banked it

and now there is real concern it will never be finished or will be released broken

updates keep the faith for the players, and pope rocket has abdicated

dude, just quit, like i did.

All people are doing this, in not much time the SA community will be reduced to fanboys and trolls, just consider that your money was wasted.

Dean released the game in its most shitty state in a desperate attempt to get the most money possible from the hype that the SA had, and he just hit the jackpot, now even he's leaving, obviously standalone isnt a priority anymore now that everyone's already got paid (even forum moderators, it seems).

Now go get a beer, run the mod and have some fun, much better option than punching the wall of nails that this forum is.

There's a bunch of good games out there, with way better communities than dayz, you just need to search a little.

i return here once in a while to have a look at the forums, and things are going exactly as i tought, no updates, more hackers, more excuses, more fanboys, less decent players, more children/griefers/glitchers, just like i presumed 2 months ago.

This game will never reach beta, and i will be watching with a beer and popcorn while its community implodes in its flaws.

I can't play stable--too much desync going on. Nothing will happen if/when my patience runs out. I won't run DayZ anymore. Probably take a month off, or six. Lots of people already have. LOTS.

That's totally acceptable, and in my opinion, a good idea.

Bohemia already made the money they needed, so they have no reason to expand the team or improve the game quickly. So maybe in 2 years the game will be released.

What is it to you if some people enjoy the alpha? I certainly do, and while development has been slow the last few weeks I'm not gonna throw a fit and give up all hope. You don't have to give it any more time or have any hope, but just because people are more patient than you and have hope does not make them fanboys.

If you decided to quit that's totally fine, but that doesn't mean others can't legitimately enjoy the alpha still. Also, if you truly quit, then why are you here still complaining about the reason you quit? The quitting part was the solution to the issue. No more need to complain.

well, i'm not telling you are a fanboy, but if you have any good sense, you can certainly see that the forums are infested with them, along with trolls and kids.

Patches are not and have not been specifically scheduled to certain dates. There has been no announcement with certainty when a patch will deploy to stable.

We do announce our server maintenance periods, they occur every Wednesday. When a patch is approved for deployment it will be deployed during a scheduled maintenance period, or in emergency situations an unscheduled deployment may occur.

Because deployment of patches outside of scheduled maintenance can occur, we warned everyone that one may occur last Friday.

Regardless of negative experiences some people have two things are paramount:

We continue to inform people about potential disruptions, i.e. the possibility of patches being deployed. This is because deploying a patch can result in servers being down for extended periods of time. This requires planning with many different people all around the world, such as GSP's who have customers who would bombard them with different questions as to why their server is not online.

We will not deploy patches to stable that we know introduce new gameplay breaking bugs. We simply cannot do this. If we know something is broken that breaks gameplay we cannot deploy the patch. It doesn't matter if we have made any "promise" for the update - the purpose of stable is to provide a known level of experience. Each deployment to stable must be a step up in playability.

So in conclusion, while I understand your frustration - I am sure you can see that there are reasons why we must warn people of pending patches, and then there are reasons why we might not end up delivering on that warning. That is, quite simply, just the reality of the situation. It will improve as the project becomes less and less risky in terms of it's area's of development. But right now we are dramatically changing the architecture to better support fixing bugs and issues with the engine.

Hey found out why they didn't patch the game turn's out they have decided that deploying unstable patches containing game breaking bug's is not good, so they do their best to protect you from bad thing's happening and you cry about it saying "they have your money and don't care" or "Deans made is money and that's why he's leaving".  Some of you folk really need to pull your head in and and stop jumping the gun with incomplete "facts" and/or passing off a poorly thought out, unsupported ideas as "facts"

The very fact that the patches have been delayed because of issues that would RUIN YOUR GAMING EXPERIENCE would suggest that the team is still very much devoted to this project.

Finally before one of you starts screaming that they don't use reddit, I found this post because it is xposted into the devtracker.

what's the point? if they release a patch full of game breaking bugs all the people on the forums will just yell alpha anyway.

They got paid to do this, they're doing us no favors, stop acting like they are.

And the game's still full of bugs, falling off ladders, being spit out of buildings through walls, leaning through walls to see the other side, etc.

The rate of these patches are taking so long. And for what? A cooking pot? Idk about you guys.. But this is starting to seem pretty hopeless. Yeah i know they doubled the size of the dev team but from 5 to 10 people isn't that much of an improvement.. A game of this scale needs a studio.. and massive manpower if they want to ever seriously consider bringing us the features they originally hoped for.. Bohemia is the publisher i understand that.. But whats the developer team name of the people who make dayz? Dean hall? Created by dean hall on the main menu page? Even WARZ has a developer studio and a group name "hammerpoint" Is dayz team even real? So why is bohemia and dean hall only employing "indie" manpower to a big name game? Dayz has been one of the most sucessfull pc sellers in the last decade.. Where is the money?

I just keep looking everyday for patches to come for dayz on steam and it just never happens, And im not surprised honestly.

I dont think people fully understand the man power and resources required to make a game.. If you look at a game like interstellar marines who has a developer team of 12 (more than dayz).. They have been working on that game for about 8 years and the progress is minimal at best. There is not even a crouch button yet. Indie games take forever.. Just making fez took one man three years to make.

Another example is, grand theft auto4.. ONE THOUSAND people working on it.. 5 years to make.

When i saw the sucess of dayz standalone i was 100% sure that dean hall would open his own game studio, give it a name, than hire hundreds of developers to bring us the best survival game of all time..

dayz has been one of the most sucessfull pc games in the last decade.. They have made more money than most triple A developers do on their pc titles.

So we know they have money.. Where is it?  So the excuse of "small dev team" is no longer a viable excuse..

Takes about 2-3 months to hire and train people. They had like 10 people working on it, they have since added more.

Perhaps the reason it took GTA 5 years to make is because they had to many people working on it.

although i am also not very happy with the current state of the game - even though it is alpha, it makes me kind of sad reading all the lame comments like 'he has all the money, no more patch needed'. you should be grateful that they decided not to deliver a seriously broken version to the stable branch. it was the right decision. obviously they are dealing with problems that are not as easy to solve for them. so just be patient and have a little faith.

hmm, so any information other than you tell is misinformation?

Actually, what dean made was the best marketing decision in years, he made dozens of millions selling hype.

He chose the period when the hype reached its maximum and released a pre alpha, charging a full game's price on it, getting rid of the responsability of delivering a good experience for it.

he made a fortune from nothing.

And anyone knows that if someone gets paid before he does its job, he will do a shitty job, because he will lack motivation.

Now glue the pieces: The devs already got paid and have no pressure from the playerbase to develop fast, as people keep yelling "alpher" to anyone who points a bug.

what you have is what the game is now.

jesus man, people paid for the alpha, they didnt do any favor releasing it earlier, actually, the playerbase did them a favor by paying their bills before the game's even worth it.

Actually, no he didn't. Bohemia own DayZ, not Dean. He hasn't made a fraction of what you seem to think he has and on a side note, none of the forum moderators are paid either.
