No fresh fruits...

Hello my fellow survivors!

My suggestion is:

 

Remove fresh fruits from normal loot table in buildings etc, DayZ takes place years after the outbreak, fresh fruits should be only on trees, bushed and plants.

Id understand if there are some blocked buildings that look like survivor strongholds contain still good food, since they collected it and brought it there, but fresh stuff should not be there to be found :)

 

Berry picking is in already, so why not give us apple trees at some point in the further future.

Last thing i've heard was that DayZ takes place shortly after the outbreak.

However it does take place years after the NATO were in Chernarus in Arma 2.

all the cars are rusty and derelict. Its not like it happened yesterday. An apple probably rots in 2 weeks more or less who knows. Either way finding fresh fruit lying around is as likely as finding rocking horse shit.

totally agree: chocolate, packed cookies, essicated meat, why not? jar of baby food (i really dunno what's the correct word for this: http://www.bollabio.com/images/products/19592.jpg) and others long term conservation foods

 

Imho will be nice find also chocolate bars and and military rations with high nutritive values in military bases instead of rotten food (or automatic rifles :P)

on that topic I believe there already are apple trees (they sure look like some sort of fruit trees) and there are definitely pumpkins, it really annoys me to be starving and not take advantage of these obvious food sources.

That's a stupid reason. Simply having a car in Chernarus would be a sign of status, and those owners aren't going to be packing ArmorAll.

DayZ is set in a poor Afghanistan-tier country, hence the rusty cars.

 

The fresh fruit is simply the fruit that was unripe when the apocalypse began maybe a week before the recurring start of DayZ. If we were talking years, all the zombies would have decomposed [due to not worrying about flies and such landing on their bodies and placing maggots]. Fresh fruit does not need to be removed.

[edit: and also all of the good condition cars would have been driven away by survivors anyway]

Neither is it logical or realistic to need no sleep. I personally love to find fresh fruit, it feels even more special than finding ammo for the M4...

I always hear that its 2 or 3 months after; but no one seems to have a exact number. Regardless I like the suggestion, fruit shouldn't keep for that long. Of course, I never find fresh fruit anyway, but I don't think there should be any sitting around. 

 

 

It'd be pretty cool if there would be fruit trees around some of the farms; or even dedicated orchards.
