Who needs a cramped middle "w" finger?

I've accidentally found a way to avoid having to hold 'w' when on a long map crossing. I have a USB switch on my keyboard to use it for two computers. If I switch while running, you keep running even after you switch back, until you hit a key. Not sure if it works the same with unplugging your usb keyboard, but use it regularly now when crossing the middle of nowhere. Just thought I'd share!

I wasn't aware that BF or CoD had an auto run option.  I've only noticed that mainly MMORPG's have them.

I honestly don't see the point to an auto run with maps that take 30 seconds to sprint across but hey, easy pickings :)

i don't have a desk to play on, i use wireless keyboard/mouse and sit on my bed across from the tv so my left hand will get sore from half-resting on it while i pound away the wasd

 

also the smallest map on bf4 would take me about 2 minutes to cross full sprint with sprint perk

In a huge open world game auto run is pretty nice. I personally just stick a quarter between W and S. I'd like an auto run button but if they won't add it then I'll just use this technique.

Actually, there would be more rage posts on these forums about the morons using auto-run and getting killed while they did go take a piss.  So don't add auto-run, no one rages about dying because of it.

I don't know about you but I would love to see those posts.  I don't think the moderators here would mind either.

 

I know that if I go to take a piss in a bush and come back dead for an unknown reason I have nothing to complain about.  Has not happened yet in the SA but I'm sure it will one day.  Gotta be immersive ya'know.

 

 

edit: I'm not against waiting to fix some of the other major issues before adding a simple feature like this so that people can't go afk as easily and therefore miss what may have been a bug to report.

I always enjoy these threads, it's funny how hostile people are to something that doesn't affect them in any way.

 

I would love an auto-run option in the game but for now I use "methods" to toggle W with a keypress. I don't use it to play the game for me in any way and it doesn't detriment my ability to respond at all, yet somehow people are really hostile to this. I have pretty bad arthritis in some of my fingers, frankly your whining and your feelings about legitimate gameplay are infinitely less important to me than aggravating that condition and causing myself severe pain when I don't have to.

I remapped my x2 W to my ctrl button.  Use W when I need to walk around in buildings, ctrl for a quick getaway or out in the open.

Nah I essentially use move toggle at this point instead of pressing W most of the time, I only bother holding down W if I know I'm only covering a short distance (moving around the interior of a building, crossing a street, etc.) or if I am in a combat situation. Having gotten used to doing it this way in MMOs I'm really bloody quick on that toggle now. ;) Edited March 13, 2014 by DarkwaveDomina
