Forrelist 236 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Hi everyone. The following is a list of what I believe the biggest problems of DayZ are right now. Disclaimer: Yes I am aware the game is in Alpha. This list is hopefully constructive criticism for the developers . This isn't another whine-thread, I just hope to point out a few of the biggest issues. Hopefully others can provide feedback on this. I am also aware that this will probably result in some objections or arguments from the community itself. Please be polite atleast if you do not agree. So in no particular orderThe Spawn positions feel imbalanced. There are way too many up the northeast coast of the map now. I know this was to combat people trying to get a Balota spawn, but it has made the map very one-sided as a result. Cherno and the surrounding area is usually allways empty because of this. At least there should be some more kamenka/komorovo spawns for balance.Loot issues: There are many houses that do not spawn loot at all. The creates a problem, where on busy servers a newspawn can seriously struggle to get even food.Loot issues #2: because loot currently does not respawn it results in server hopping on a large scale. Everyone knows someone who does this, or does it themselves. You simply go to an airfield then jump servers until you have full gear. If loot respawned periodically, this would reduce the number that does this.Wall Glitching: With people able to use walls to spy the inside of a building, or even go inside the building to shoot people from anywhere, this is a really big game-breaking bug. Really frustrating to walk for a long time to an airfield, or go through Elektro to get onehit by an exploiter.Ruined backpacks and other storage still carry the same amount of gear without a problem. This means that there is more incentive for players to just shoot anyone without reprecussion of losing some gear, they know that the clothing/backpack will still work - ruined or not.Desync: I know that this is being worked on, but it is still currently a major issue. People can kill you while you are stationary on their game, even if you are running around on yours. It looks like you have been killed by an invisible player. This always ruins immersion. Disgraced 1123 Posted March 11, 2014 You are mostly wrong. Desync/engine is the main problem. The engine is stopping them from spawning stuff... So it's what I call the netcode for lack of a better term. I have no idea how it's worked on or fixed, but to me, everything else is cosmetic. SPawn positions, loot balance, what weapons are in the game... None of that matters at the moment. I think making gear and releasing it is a waste of time with the fundamental issues that seem to be out there. They will shake it out, I am sure... Or... I hope... Or... it would be good.... Forrelist 236 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) You are mostly wrong. Hi, I appreciate the feedback. Would you atleast highlight which points you feel that I am wrong about, explaining why. If you feel that certain problems do not matter at the moment, that doesn't mean the problems suddenly cease to exist. Leo Balzac 190 Posted March 11, 2014 yes, these are issues but they will be fixed, or at least minimized, as the development moves forward.

Zjasuu 337 Posted March 11, 2014 I'd rather be stupid than be a Rude arsehole. They all affect gameplay... Sis I say you're stupid? Also the first 3 problems only affect people who don't have any idea of how to play the game.
Karmaterror 982 Posted March 11, 2014 What a stupid post, only the last one affects the gameplay. Spawn positions don't affect gameplay? Most of these have been mentioned before but they do need sorting out. Loot respawning is planned, and the houses not spawning I think has to do with the global item cap. Or maybe they configuring spawn locations....who knows lol. Personally I think the cases should still hold the same amount, but offer less protection to the stuff inside when ruined. Backpacks should also hold the same, but "leak" small items like cans. Honestly...I think desync will be a problem a lot in alpha. Towards the end when finalising performance would be my guess to see it really reigned in :)
Forrelist 236 Posted March 11, 2014 Sis I say you're stupid? Also the first 3 problems only affect people who don't have any idea of how to play the game. Oh so people who don't know how to play the game are at fault because there are many houses that do not spawn any loot! oh and also because wall glitching isn't a major issue that doesn't affect anyone.. <_<
Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted March 11, 2014 The biggest problem with DayZ is the perpetual whining and "I want this nao!!!" threads

Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted March 11, 2014 haha I'm about ready to abandon ship on this one anyways :)The only big issue that you brought up in your post is the Desync. The others are just a hindrance to gameplay but not major issues.
Unforeseen 24 Posted March 11, 2014 The biggest issue I have with the Alpha is people telling me what the biggest issue they have with the Alpha. Then you shouldn't be on the forums. The purpose of an early access alpha is for players TO TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES THEY ARE HAVING IN THE GAME/WITH THE GAME so that the devs know what needs to be worked on. If you are not able to accept that, please leave and never return.

sYs 133 Posted March 11, 2014 I never have problems with weapons - i usualy have problems with food. It's very scarce and i might say - rare as guns from my point of view. There been countless times that i almost starved, scavaging half of the map and not finding a single thing to eat. ( except rotten fruits )

blazinone 72 Posted March 11, 2014 It's a good list but I'm not sure how major these things are. Player spawns? They have a done a good job with those IMO. Spawning bambis on the coast is the smartest move because you automatically have a landmark to orient yourself with (the water and coast road). Putting new players in the middle of nowhere would frustrate new players immensely as they would have no idea where they were. Loot spawns are definitely an issue when considering how fast certain areas dry up. Experienced players know to just move on but others may end up being stuck in an area looking in every single house not knowing that it's probably going to be empty. My only suggestion would be to change loot spawns to be TOTALLY random. In other words there would be no need to go to a military area to find an M4. One may show up in a barn or a house for example (albeit rarely). The long term effect of this is reducing the number of "hot zones" that gear-seeking players inhabit. It would enable people to simply explore where they want and when they want and still have a chance of finding good stuff. But these are things, like others have said, that are already on the list and will certainly be addressed soon.

Looks like you've swapped a sense of humour for Caps Lock usage. :( I know right :) Fuck trying to make any suggestions or criticisms about the game around here! Aye, aye, calm your jets, big man.. ;) Bottom line, my comment was tongue in cheek, but the thread is worded badly if you want to put forward a thread discussing progressing the issues at hand, simply a list of what you think is wrong that is implicitly titled "what is wrong".

Loot would also be best to be completely random, though I might add that the military stuff would be more likely to appear at the airfields.
finnpalm 312 Posted March 11, 2014 Loot issues: There are many houses that do not spawn loot at all. The creates a problem, where on busy servers a newspawn can seriously struggle to get even food. I read a post saying that those houses that never spawn loot actually do spawn loot, only it drops through the floor because of some glitch. I haven't been able to confirm this however as I assume it requires yourself to glitch through the foundation of a house to actually see loot underneath it. boneboys 7988 Posted March 11, 2014 Do not despair or abandon the cause but keep in mind that most of your reports/issues were know at launch.http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/153994-early-access-important-information-known-issues/#entry1545068 Did you know that the very first building to spawn loot was in fact the small wooden house originally in the mod and one of the few enterable buildings. With the many changes in the system some loot is missing or mis placed. The Devs are obviously more than aware of this.
