Craftable Guns

Recommended Posts

Expected I'd find something in the forums prior to this relating to the same topic, but no. Anyway, I think it'd be cool if we could craft guns out of gun parts that we find, it would be very simple. Basically, my idea would be that the Devs could add a "Gun body" to the game, and you'd put the parts on top of that i.e. Handguard, Buttstock, Sights, etc.

That would be called a receiver. This concept would be neat if you were making tube guns. but there aren't even any machine pistols in game yet. However, it all needs to be headspaced. It's really not doable without a machine shop. There do appear to be several factories. Idk.

I know what you mean dude, I guess my picture didn't show up when I posted it?? That picture should explain it better, and remember that it's a game, and they could spawn blowtorches for you to make a ghetto M4 ;)

Definitely. Aslong as we don't have it so you just find random gun parts and no full weapons.

We need the capacity to build stuff like this out of scrap metal and misc items: http://englishrussia.com/2007/06/04/chechen-self-made-weapons/

I hope you don't mean building actaul, reliable, not-gonna-blow-up-in-yoz-face guns

Imo the risk of having your contraption explode mid-firefight would add to the game (being serious).

If that actually happened and I was the bambi I would just go to your corpse and laugh my ass off.

I don't see gun crafting as being very realistic unless you have access to a machine shop and good tools. We already have the attachment system for some fo the guns. I think that's good enough.

No gun building IMO.

Would love to have gun crafting, but they should be slightly less reliable than proper weapons.

There are really only two types of guns I could see being crafted. A zip gun, basically a disposable one-use gun with no accuracy. Or a 410 Shotgun. These are actually pretty easy to make as they are just a tube and something to hit the primer on the shell.

I think it would be nice to be able to disassemble guns for specific gun parts, but I think it would lead to guns degrading at an incredibly unrealistic rate. Still, it would be very gun specific. You aren't putting a Mosin bolt in another rifle or making a new gun out of an M4 lower receiver.
