lordthuggington 0 Posted March 10, 2014 Hey all-- So I've got a group of people who want to play the game together, but even though we're on the same server, the map is so huge we can't find each other (or ourselves most of the time!). How do you guys work around this? Is there a mod I can download to see other users in-game? Is this maybe a "clan" only thing? Thanks so much for the help! Use the comms (TS3/Ventrillo/Mumbe/Skype) and navigation skills. That is how it works, you can't use mods for nav in DayZ SA, but in future there will be GPS added (Hope not though as it makes it way easy Simple Tips for core nav: http://dayzintel.com/dayz-standalone/dayz-standalone-navigation-guide (also always check the structures,Road/Town Signs and try to describe them to your friend )Map: http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#4.080.064 Edited March 11, 2014 by =1PARA=Prime=C.O=
Martmital 436 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Have a look at a map such as the one on dayzdb, learn the basic navigation skills, pick a landmark, run there. If your running into the sun you are heading in a southern-ish direction and clouds go east. Now you can work out roughly which direction you are facing. Edited: cuz I don't know what he fuck I'm on about Edited March 11, 2014 by Martmital
GpB311 236 Posted March 11, 2014 It just takes time to learn what cities lie where and what certain landmarks are, especially if youre not on the coast. Once you begin to learn your way around without needing to check the Chernarus+ map, it becomes quite easy to meet up in specific locations.

Martmital 436 Posted March 11, 2014 Clouds travel from West to East in Cherna. Pretty sure they go from east to west. Spawn on the east coast and the clouds are coming in from the sea, not out to sea. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.
Leo Balzac 190 Posted March 11, 2014 clouds move east. No wonder I can never find you :P Pretty sure they go from east to west. nuggit 246 Posted March 11, 2014 If your new group of friends and yourself are having trouble navigating your way around, and locating each other. I would head over to Izurvive website. (app for phone or website for pc) That is if you want an out-of-game-map-help. However, you can put in your name in and then join/create a group. This allows you to put markers down on the map with friends who you play with/joined the group. This is an easy way to have location points, and where to meet. :) Otherwise as others have stated. Getting to know the map, locations, town names and landmarks will help tenfold in your situation. Good luck and best wishes on your travels

NagsterTheGangster 388 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Ill check the location of the sun and ask them to look directly away from the shore and tell me the sun location. Then one walks with the water on the left and one with the water on the right until you meet. Works 90% of the time for me anyways. nuggit 246 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Hey I'd love to do this! Could you point me to where I can sign up? No Problem Lordhuggington No need to "sign" up, just go to www.izurvive.com. In the top of the page there is a username. Put in your name you want, then go across to the box that says Groups. (no need for email confirmation or anything) This is where you create a group name and password. Once created, share the details with your friends. Now you can all log in with the group/pwd and start dotting down your locations and points of interest. I hope this helps! nuggit 246 Posted March 11, 2014 It is a great tool indeed! On a side note and some rambling from me, I want to add. "You only get lost in dayz once, no 3rd party map should be considered" - I 110% agree with this. Yes you will struggle for hours upon hours but this is were you become acquainted with Chernarus. You will find the little landmarks you remember clearly for next time, you go out and explore and become more adept at finding your next footing more confidently. It is gruelling and very unfriendly, nothing like no game before. No dot on the map, no arrow showing you were to go, nada, ziltch, nothing! Hell, you have to go find pieces of a map before you can even start pinpointing where you are! Everyone should embrace this when first starting out. Just my 2 Cents :)
Cannon76 13 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Sounds like it has all been said already. But....must...type...answer... Step 1: Figure out where you are. (blue road signs, landmarks)Step 2:Step 3: ProfitStep 4: Your friends figure out where THEY are...Step 5: Plan a rendezvous point somewhere in between you and navigate your way there. (daydb.com) You will learn the map in time. Just be patient. It can take literal hours JUST to link up. What I used to do, since available playtime is always a factor, is my friends and I would spend a night just linking up and then grabbing basic supplies (food, water, melee weapon, backpack). Then the next time we played we could go on full loot runs. Also if you do make a wrong turn and get lost, you can always run back towards the coast South or East depending on where you are in general, to get your bearings and try again. Chances are you will run into something you can recognize before then but its always an option. Edited March 11, 2014 by Cannon76
gomeowmeow 45 Posted March 11, 2014 a easy way to find where you are, look at road signs and use a app like isurvive to convert it to what it actually means, or the second you spawn everybody run with the ocean on their left side untill you get to eletro so then you all know where you are
