Rick1633 136 Posted March 10, 2014 Anyone else getting an increase in crashes and character wipes? I never ever crashed to desktop until starting about one or two weeks ago. I also have more character wipes. And I just read a post that the respawning of zombies has no consideration to line of sight. They just spawn out of thin air, and with all their broken issues. Please tell me that its normal for a game to get worse before it gets better.
xAtrocity 47 Posted March 10, 2014 Its normal for a game that's an alpha. Get over it.

Rick1633 136 Posted March 10, 2014 Its normal for a game that's an alpha. Get over it.Jesus christ, I was just asking if it was normal, I didnt say I was pissed about it. I thought its alarming that I have played the game since day 1, and never crashed to desktop until recently, which now happens a lot.
Seanieseansean 0 Posted March 10, 2014 I run an old GFX card and was crashing a lot at one point until I turned the graphics settings in game.
ArsenicLamb 23 Posted March 10, 2014 See I read all these topics about char wipes and I have NEVER had that issue. My game has never crashed and I've never lost a character... maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.
applejaxc 2500 Posted March 10, 2014 A game in alpha is going to get much, much worse during the Alpha, but it will recover... as long as the devs don't pull a Battlefield 4. (Sorry, too soon?) Seriously, though: 1. You can't complain about character wipes; it is something that should happen every 1-2 months (at least!) to keep the alpha balanced whenever new items are added or spawn rates are changed, or other changes are made to those fundamentals. It's the same thing when zombie difficulty is finally a thing; everyone should restart and have to face these new, tougher zombies the same way, rather than some players completely gearing up, not playing until the game is ultra difficult, and then going on a rampage when no one can find anything better than a stick to defend them self with. 2. It's in development. The dev team needs to make mistakes and realize that there are broken features in order to make the game as good as possible in the future. I know it seems silly, and that demanding absolute excellence in every implementation is the best way to guarantee the game is absolutely amazing, as it will be, but broken features being complained about in the fifty thousand threads just like this one lets the devs know, "Hey, cut it out .You fucked up, fix it." Or better yet, "Hey, asshole, this idea is stupid. Take it out."Hopefully cowboy hats and boots will be taken out...

Are you on the stable or experimental branch? Have any other programs had this problem? (Games or otherwise)

Go develop several complex systems yourself and you'll understand. This development cycle is maybe too open.
swingbr 18 Posted March 10, 2014 Personally, although the bugs are annoying, I'm quite happy about the entire thing. See, at the end of it all, you get a playable product that can be influenced by your input. Things are slow going at the moment, but that's what the disclaimer is for when you start up the game. We know it's an alpha, I'm somewhat laughing about the forum posts with all the complaining. Guess what. Things are going to slowly get better, and if they have to get worse, so be it. Instead of complaining, maybe go to one of the other tabs and start writing constructive input for the standalone. I'm sure they've given it some thought already but you never know. Demoth 366 Posted March 10, 2014 There is no normal. This game is an ongoing experiment. Go develop several complex systems yourself and you'll understand. This development cycle is maybe too open. The alpha early access was a good business decision, but it's terrible for my mental health. Reading some of the threads people make causes me emotional anguish.I'm no genuis, but I am baffled by the drivel that people post.As for the OP, this game hates certain PC configurations. Sometimes they add in something to "optimize" and it backfires. Aftet last patch my friend had to roll back his Nvidia drivers because his game crashed 15 seconds after being in game. deus_drone 98 Posted March 10, 2014 I am on the Experimental and looks like I got a wipe or /unknown death.
Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted March 10, 2014 I've been playing non stop for the past couple weeks on the experimental and have had zero issues. Even with the newest update still smooth as silk. Post PC specs and maybe someone can see if your hardware is up to par.
hellcane 63 Posted March 10, 2014 My suggestion is to read the disclaimers you see when you load the game, bought the game, or look at it in the steam client.
brumey 116 Posted March 10, 2014 the only Thing that has changed for me this week, is that i am Meeting People now (fully geared) that dont shoot on sight! and i have lots of fun with walkie talkie recently. pretending to be the shipwreck ghost :) hilarious
McGarnagle 94 Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) I've had a crash since the latest experimental patch, but no character wipes. And the reason people are being condescending is because you titled the thread "I'm really worried about the game now." Something more like "CTDs in .42?" might have flown over a little better, if you wanted to know if other people were having the same problem. But then people would just point you toward the bug tracker. Edited March 10, 2014 by McGarnagle
en1mal 12 Posted March 10, 2014 I can say this, I never got a wipe since the SA is out, except the first hours, where i got a new char on every log-in lol.Probably you have to watch what servers you're joining. Bugs ofc annoy, but if it annoys you too much dont hate the game or the devs, just play smth else its what i'm doing.
