stielhandgranate 480 Posted May 22, 2014 Marijuana, alcohol, and beta blockers are all banned by the Olympics because they steady your nerves and give you an unfair advantage in shooting, no joke. All 3 of these drugs will improve your steadiness and make you a better shot.I don't foresee beta blockers being in the game; anyone with heart troubles is in a world of shit. I read this long article by a man in the civil war (he didn't participate in it, just tried to survive) in what was once Yugoslavia. Many of the hard drug users died when SHTF, but marijuana and alcohol flourished. However, he noted, sometimes you could almost sort of hear a far away song play with marijuana, that you just can't quite hear. Don't go outside looking for it when there are mortars and machine guns going off outside. This is such bullshit. Those items are banned because you never want to give a loaded firearm to a person under the influence of mind altering drugs or spirits. As a firearms instructor, I've never come across a claim that the drugs you mentioned assist you in shooting a firearm. Care to provide some sources?
VaTiS 26 Posted May 22, 2014 who the f..k would want to make the game more difficult ... pointless suggestion imo
Blern 71 Posted May 22, 2014 BEER AND SMOKES. Makes your screen drowsy and swirling with colors. Body vitality temporarily restored and all actions are performed faster. Vomiting? COCAINE AND NARCOTICS Super strength and speed for a duration at the cost of severe blood loss and sickness after the duration, repeated consumption builds tolerance.Yes! Because when I am grasping at survival and struggling to find food and safety, of course I think about getting high first.

Etherimp 1323 Posted May 23, 2014 Where are you going to find cocaine in the apocalypse? I don't think drug runners from Columbia will still be servicing Chernarus..Cigarettes and alcohol could be found in residentials though. Still.. why? I'm a smoker, and I don't see what purpose this would serve in game.
Lady Kyrah 1110 Posted May 23, 2014 This is eastern europe, not a 3rd world country... it's actually a bit insulting.

The New York times article mentions, "Beta Blockers", not outright narcotic usage, it also mentions: There is, in fact, no universal agreement on whether beta blockers help or hurt in some athletic situations. Also it mentions that beta blockers can hurt your performance:“Some level of anxiety is good for performance,” said Richard Ginsburg, a sports psychologist at the Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. “It keeps you on your game. A beta blocker can take away some edge, mellow you too much.” Lets keep in mind the whole article pertains to golf, not firearms. I didn't examine your last link as I have no knowledge of archery, outside of knowing the fundamentals of pistol/rifle marksmen ship and archery are very different. pistaaaa 29 Posted May 23, 2014 Some stimulants are standars military equipment.(As far as i know MDMA and amphetamine). Fallout had drugs, and wasn't banned.Morphene is already in the game. Also caffeine should be added, and various medical drugs. Playing the game as a medic should be a thing, and should be complicated as hell.
icarus255 3 Posted May 24, 2014 I was playing today and I was thinking this exact same thing. I had just wasted 3 players in Berezino and thought "I could really go for a beer right now". Strangely, I wasn't thinking about a real beer though because that would go against the "realistic" aspect of the game. Drugs would have worked just as well at the time. I could have really used a line or two - in the game, of course. There are a lot of good performance enhancing drugs out there in real life like amphetamine which could be introduced to affect the stats of the character. I also think the developers should introduce a "mood system" into the game whereby the actions and environment in the game determine the mood of the character which in turn affects things like aiming, running, etc. That way if your character is depressed or anxious you can give him a good dose of valium to relax him or a couple of Es to help him forget about the fact that the world has ended, all his family/friends are dead, and he has to kill EVERYONE he comes across just to stay alive. The game is already half-way there with the morphine auto-injector (which I admittedly use more often than I probably should). Why not go all the way? This definitely has my vote. carbine781 (DayZ) 131 Posted May 24, 2014 I don't think that the addition of drugs would be a major benefit to the games, so I'm not a fan of the idea.
