Death By Crowbar

Oh fun - all geared up 12 hours ago, now naked. Fun.

Glad I ran around gearing up last night. That was hours well spent.

I get that this is alpha - but this is a HUMAN cost. If me, as a human, buys the game for $30, do NOT wipe me, ever, period. The whole "this is alpha, read the disclaimer" thing gets old quick. It's a crutch. Take care of your paid customers, don't screw them and leave them out to dry for god's sake.

I get that you are upset but the disclaimers for the game notify you of the risks.  You got hit by a bug that made you lose your gear.  I would suggest waiting a few minutes and try logging onto another server because sometimes you spawn where you logged out and get your gear back after this happens.

Exactly.

Go play COD if you're gonna cry over loosing your gear.

Unfortunately it is the nature of the beast that you will lose gear and get respawned during the many alpha updates.  There will even be a few database wipes no doubt where everyone will have to start again.

You say the disclaimer is a crutch, but you have read and understood it before you bought the game so you cant just dismiss it.  Perhaps you should have waited until a more stable version was available before wasting your time.

You're going to invite a lot of hostility with this thread. I understand you need to vent, but this isn't going to do any good for anyone.

If you don't want your character wiped, you made a huge mistake buying this alpha. It didn't give you a giant disclaimer before you bought the game just for shits and giggles. This is a bug riddled, glitchy test version of what the game migt become.

A lot of people seem to think the "DO NOT BUY THIS GAME" warning was a clever marketing reverse psychology trick, despite going into great detail what problems you may face (character wipes being guaranteed).

No one is saying it doesn't suck, but you should probably take a break and come back when things get a bit more stable. At worst, you basically pre-ordered a game you want for a discount. At best, you pre-ordered a game that will be something you hate a year from now. Here's hoping it's the former.

If your Jimmies can't stand little rustling, then shelve the game and come back in few months, or even at the end of the year, when we should be in beta phase.

Thanks for supporting the project.

Trolls - who pays for the game (and how)? I'm simply putting on notice that wiping should come with significant alert. There is an end product that appears to be an MMORPG that is a monthly (or yearly) license - having hours of effort erased won't be tolerated then, and shouldn't be tolerated now. I didn't pay $30 to get ass fucked, I paid to to play a fun game and that's incomplete but not get fucked in the arse.

There's no possible way to give an alert for an incoming wipe unless it would be an update. The best way to avoid those wipes is to join official, protected servers with BattleEye. I have never lost a character due to this. The reason behind this is because some player hosted servers may have trouble connecting to the database. When there's not a proper connection to the database, you will spawn as a fresh spawn since it cannot load the information.

Also, there were plenty of warnings on the Steam store page and a disclaimer every time you turned on the game. Those warnings and disclaimers even said that there is a chance that you may lose your character. So, either you ignored them and went on with it, or you're a masochist due to the way you're saying that you got "ass fucked" by buying an unfinished product. So, therefore...

I was last on a Battleeye server, I forget which, I but I do recall the "X player is losing connection" messages. It's a joke. Wasting time and money. The alpha umbrella is not protection from scrutiny - paid players shouldn't get wiped. If you wipe paid players why not gear them up instead??? It's equally as reasonable to do.

Did you even read what I wrote?! Wiping happens at random. There's no way that someone would know that if they join this certain server, their things will disappear! Did you expect a game that's on alpha stage to be bug free?! Alpha is alpha, it's literally the bare bones of a game that's infested with bugs. This is in no way, a finished product, so you have no right to be whining about these problems.

So they tell you that there will be bugs and wipes because this is an alpha...but you are surprised and angry when it happens?

I understand that the beginning of your teenage years can be hard with the hormones and social awkwardness, but try to understand that crying about something you knew was going to happen won't change it.

Worst reasoning ever. OP isn't mad about losing gear. It's the manner in which he lost it.

Saying "FIRS RULE OF DAYZ IS NVR Get attaCHED 2 UR GEER! LEL" to every person that gets angry at a BS death is just as bad as actually getting mad about it.

Also, just because someone gets angry with Day Z doesn't mean they should go play CoD. No one should play CoD.

how ironic I find myself stripping all my gear at times, ( i usually set in a high traffic area ) and wiping myself so I can have the sweet desperation feeling all over again 8)

Just because I keep getting burned when I touch a hot stove, after repeated warnings, ain't gonna stop me from bitchin' about it! I paid for that stove, I have rights, dammit!

The mistake was replying to this thread ;/ I never learn.

Some people don't understand the purpose of a pre-purchase alpha of a game. It's a risky investment and people need to keep a realistic attitude about what it entails.

The OP is within his right to be frustrated, but his refusal to accept reality is his problem, and his alone. Don't let it drag you into annoyance or this thread will turn into a flame war and attract mods.

I think this thread shows why Early Access games aren't for everyone.

You cannot click past disclaimer after disclaimer, warning after warning and then complain when those very warnings come true.

Yes, wipes are a pain but c'mon - we are here to test arent we, not hoard and store gear?  Complain about that when it hits release and it continues to happen.
