Gear up, then suicide - the cycle of Day z

Recommended Posts

Yup, the irish, scots welsh and cornish are celts.

I know, I am one.

Edit: Great post Laughing Jack. I only got the game recently enough so I haven't been keeping up with the dev stuff. It's great to know that all of that stuff I asked for was already coming.

It's a sandbox, they provided the sand you must provide the bucket and spade.

If you like looting whilst trying to avoid Zombies, then dont pick up that axe, nobody said you have to.

If you like the hunt for food then dont get a large backpack and stuff with food, travel light and feed on the move.

The other day I searched for paper, when I got enough, left a mosin with a note "For the rounds....." and left hints to where they were.  When they got there another note for the bipod, then another for scope.  The player stuck with it, took him about 1:15 mins, maybe he/she could have found them quicker by themselves but they seemed to go along with it.

Not having a pop just suggesting that you make the content.

Same, I get well geared up with Pristine everything, enough Ammo/Food/Water to last me during any event (Fire fights, Killing Zombies, Adventuring.) and the generic Medical supplies that I find most anyone should carry (Bandages, Morphine, Charcoal tablets, Saline, Epi Pen. (I know EPen and Saline aren't useful if your alone, but it helps.)) then once I have all these things I usually travel with a crew of people 3 to 6+ depending on what is going on, we usually then go to the coast and find New Spawns / Bambies to help out - or - setup somewhere and observe interactions between others and snuff out Bandits wherever they might pop up.

Things do become stale after a while, and I simply remind myself that more interesting/involving content is coming since this is in Alpha, and that tends to calm the "This game is boring now." blues...

I try my best to stay alive, and usually take my time moving around spots where I know there would be people, but dying is part of the game, and regearing isn't a big issue and I find it to be one of the most fun parts about this game.

1. Add some extra curricular activities.

I really have no business claiming this as an idea of mine as the devs have said they would add them. Still, I think extra things such as hunting and building and what ever else you care to suggest would really give me something else to do than just looting.

2. Make surviving more difficult.

When you have the weapons to effectively kill zombies then surviving becomes really, really easy. You can eat like a king by looting the smallest villages and you can pretty much be permanently hydrated by drinking from wells. So the solution? you need to make your health more of an issue. You should get sick by not having a varied diet and you should get sick from being exposed to the elements. You should especially get sick from being around zombies or in towns that should be riddled with the dead. You also should randomly get common illnesses just to keep you on your toes. And even though I love them, they really should limit the amount of wells. Making me more dependent on constantly needing to find new supplies would help to prolong the looting stage so that I can still 'gear' even when geared.

I totally agree with that, surviving is just toooooo easy, idk why they didnt even put water poisoning yet... and zombie hit you and ruined your cloths, thats a pretty hard hit why dont you get sick ?

Needing that saline bag, or tetracycline antibiotics it is one hell of a reason to just not shoot someone and actually ask for some help.

You spend a few hours gearing up, get the best possible items and then get hit by an unstoppable wall of boredom.

There's always something to do. Instead of just killing yourself, why not become a hero or bandit and let others do it for you. You may even survive long enough to come back and tell us how much you enjoyed it.
