Addex (DayZ) 16 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) -----EDIT----- For the people that don't know, if you log out with handcuffs on, you get killed, so it wont ruin the game even when you get hydrated/energized to full so you will survive for a long time, you can just log out and respawn--------Back to the description-----Like the title says, you should be able to handcuff people to something, for example fence, you can still get them off by struggling, but you can move a lot (max 2 steps yh i know not a lot but i dont think it would make sense if you could move around when hancuffed to something) with vehicles it could be a good fun having a bandit handcuffed to your car back and just him sliding on the road and attach a sign onto him saying "This is gonna happen to all bandits :)" Just a good way to use bandits instead of just killing them, and them having a pain so they would stop, yeah has its plusses and minuses, thanks for reading, write below what you think. hannibaldaplaya 1095 Posted March 8, 2014 I love this idea. I want to handcuff people to a ledge coming right off of the apartment building, so they just hang there, waiting for someone to shoot them or for the handcuffs to break and for them to fall to their deaths. aknar 13 Posted March 9, 2014 Looks nice but particularly hard to implement a feature like this and make it work correctly. There would be too much work on the player skeleton, on the different levels of freedom of movement depending on where he is attached. If dangling or in motion, player can't move and would be transformed into ragdoll. The whole thing could be replaced by animations like the one already existing but places you can handcuff would be very restricted and player interaction would be close to none... so on and so forth. Just way too hard to make it work nicely and not be gliched out as hell to actually be worth the effort. Shame...
Upstart2010 11 Posted March 9, 2014 But they are implementing physics soon, including ragdoll... I think it would be feasible :)
quantum2k6 348 Posted March 9, 2014 handcuffing 2 persons on each other would be also cool and give bandits and heros complete new options ;) :)
w00kie 42 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) Good idea, I like this! What objects would you be able to do this to tho? Fences, Handrail's, car doors or bike stands etc Edited March 9, 2014 by w00kie
mithrawndo 166 Posted March 9, 2014 I see a remake of the film Saw (1 or 2? I forget) popping up: Short timer, handcuffs and a hacksaw. I don't think anyone has ever really mentioned the potential for permanent handicaps in this yet...
Meenos 47 Posted March 9, 2014 but like it is now you cannot move right ? so if you handcuff someone they are stuck there. but sure, the more things you can do in a game the funnyer, so +

Shame...Yeah true, but they could make it "evolve" in steps, lets say, first you can attach them to something, then after a couple of months make it better so the handcuffing to vechicles or of buildings would be pretty good, thanks for feed back tho :) Edited March 10, 2014 by Addex
srgntpepper 85 Posted March 9, 2014 eh, I dont really think its necessary. I think we should be able to drag cuffed poeple tho, I think you should be able to move forward, with them in front of you, so you can drop them off buildings and shit too, lol

Upstart2010 11 Posted March 10, 2014 What is ragdoll, soz i dont know English isnt my first language. Hi, Ragdoll is a phrase describing a type of character animation relating to game physics. For instance, currently if you fall from a height there is just a short delay while the engine decides whether you have sustained injury. If ragdoll animations were implemented, your avatar might crumple into a heap as you might if you fell out of a window. For another example, imagine those slow motion films of crash test dummies being hit by cars. The flailing around of the dummies is classic "ragdoll" behaviour. more info:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_physics#Ragdoll_physics

Sum Ting Wong 45 Posted March 12, 2014 What about if I handcuff you people to a tree, and leave you there? You love staring at yourself not being able to move?Does that make fun gameplay? Or do you like it, thinking this will not happen to yourself? Although it may sound as fun, i don't think you would like to tied up not able to move or do anything about it.I sure as hell do not.
