How do you check if your microphone is working?

I am unsure if my microphone is working in DayZ, is there a way that the game will check if it's working? i.e show a volume bar of your voice or anything along those lines?

Go to Electro, hold caps lock and say "friendly"

Right click sound icon in hot bar, and select 3rd one from bottom

...then choose the input device that shows input when you speak into your mic and set it as standard and standard communication device, that's the one Arma always checks for (and probably also DayZ).
