Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) Oh okay. Thanks guys. I'm still newEnjoy the stay and enjoy the game. Lot's of ironing out to do so please post feedback whenever you can. Oh and I'll tell you this before you do anything to get flamed. The search function is your friend so try to use it before making a post that has already been made 100 times :P ........ but sometimes it doesn't work Edited February 27, 2014 by Caboose187
hells high 676 Posted February 27, 2014 I just died from starvation because I couldn't find 1 can of food in the whole city of berezino. As it is now it's just a loot race if one person is in front of you you're totally screwed. You stayed on the coast, what the hell did you expect? You can literally sprint inland or to the more northern towns immediately after spawning and be completely fine. Learn to play the game before complaining that its broken. mssing 34 Posted February 27, 2014 **shrugs**There are two types of gamers, duckling:1. Gamers who gripe, whine, blame the game. Blame everyone and ANYTHING but themselves when they lose. This type of gamer loses valuable knowledge and experience for the sake of protecting his/her own ego from acknowledge that defeat came from a series of mistakes or even a singular flaw in how they played. This is the rage gamer. It is also a path of least resistance. Unlearning habits and learning new ones are hard, so it's easier to blame the numbers call "OP" than it is to grow and evolve.2. Gamers who blame no one, but review that experience over and over to pinpoint what they did wrong so they can habitualize behavior that will not lead to the same scenario that lead to their defeat. This type of gamer chooses not to rage and absorbs that knowledge instead of throwing it away.Advice and experience has been granted to you in both your own actions and the advice we've extended to you.You are clearly type 1. ..i'd like to elaborate... the first one is a noob, the second is initially a newbe who over time will become a veteran.

pasilius 3 Posted February 27, 2014 I had that issue yesterday when trying out the new experimental. I was in Novy and Stary and couldn't find jack shit. I mean, not even rotten fruit. So, something was propably wrong..

Mos1ey 6301 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) 1. Join empty server/near empty server.2. Go north.3. ???4. Profit $$$ The loot spawning is just fine, you're looking in overlooted areas. 1. Join 39/40 server.2. Head at least 2 towns inland.3. ?????4. Profit I only play on populated servers and it's very rare that I'll have problems, unless of course you count the experimental servers which it seems like are forgotten about sometimes and don't restart for far too long. DarkwaveDomina 1099 Posted February 27, 2014 1. Join 39/40 server.2. Head at least 2 towns inland.3. ?????4. ProfitThat really depends on the server restarts. Sometimes I used to go on a full experimental that had been up for many hours and there'd be nothing to be found, on servers that reset every 2-4 hours obviously it's a lot easier to find loot. I rarely play experimental for that very reason. I switch to experimental to check out the new features when a patch goes live, then it's back to stable for me. When loot is respawning I'll probably stay opted into the experimental build the whole time, but for now it's just not worth it IMO. It might be worth checking back now they have added 40 more servers, they tend not to be completely full all the time now. :D

I rarely see anyone up north in 40 or 50 player servers as it is. It's the fact that they aren't restarted often enough that's the problem for me, not the playercount. [frl]myke 68 Posted February 27, 2014 OP has a point although he misses something. You can be very unlucky, be on a server that is already running quite some time and had a fair amount of players in this time. You spawn and you can instantly go inland. Often enough, players before you did the same and (almost) every town inland is already looted. On such servers, diying from starvation isn't that uncommon. However, like a lot already mentioned it: it is alpha, loot respawn is worked on. If you're in such a unlucky position, consider switching server once (not promoting server hopping though) to get on a server that isn't already completely looted. Once the loot respawn is implemented, things will be easier.
agentneo 337 Posted February 27, 2014 Berezinos usually quite good for loot, dont listen to them. The next town north below Airfield is also great, kachotab or whatever.

iBane 381 Posted February 27, 2014 A couple of weeks ago I joined the experimental branch for the first time and experienced the no-loot wasteland. 2 hours desperately searching for food, which I eventually found. Honestly this was one of the most tense and entertaining sessions of DayZ SA I've had.
Jex 1104 Posted February 27, 2014 This is not the experience my friend and I are having. We're sticking to low pop servers right now because we're trying to learn the game but we're both stocked up and have been on every life to the point where we're energized and hydrated and have more food than we'll ever need because it's everywhere. My only gripe with the spawn so far is the with the repeat items - where a school bag spawns and then every bag you find is a school bag. You have a table, you make it random - is it really that hard to get right?

Yes and the amount of stuff spawned is too high, or at least for food which is the type of thing you'd expect least of over other items.

Loot currently spawns in a few places per house and a good deal of houses don't spawn anything at all.

As it is now it's just a loot race if one person is in front of you you're totally screwed. You are not the only one that plays on that server buddy. If you cannot find food in multiple places, it might be a clear sign that someone has already been there. An even easier way of ensuring you do not waste time, is by looking what doors are open / are not. The chance you will find food in a building is much higher if the door is not open (99% of the time. Some buildings have fence / door open by default).
Chucknorris405 83 Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) Berry bushes are everywhere and have unlimited amounts of berries........not sure how you starve. I would prefer no loot respawn tbh or maybe respawn every hour or something. The MOD loot system was terrible and loot was way too plentiful and exploitable.
