New type of military gear.

Now when they are implementing that different weather is affecting your character in differnt ways (be it positive or negative) 

 

One thing I would like to see is an army coat that keeps you warm in cold weather and rain. It would be cool to look like something like this when/if they add snowy areas to the game.

 

 

Don't know if it would be "too army" oriented but military bases could have this kind of "warmer" gear in the current or in-the-future-added military bases.

 

 

Basically I would love to see green military coats with the scarf around your head. Not the bazookas and grenade launchers.

 

What do you guys think?

I'm not saying that they shouldn't add civilian winter clothes, but for us who likes to explore military camps for the thrill and gear, a military version of winter cloths would be nice. If a real zombie apocalypse would occur, I would first raid the local grocery store, then head straight to a military base. (If I survive at the grocery store, that is)

If we want just another COD with zombies etc then they will go this way. Im hoping for somthing different. There is hundreds of games out there where you use OP weapons against others for the fun of it, team up, kill people at random alone or in teams. I pray they do not go this avenue, i myself am wanting to take part in the walking dead scenario. Not, yet another FPS.

Mr Sinister. I am of same opinion. As stated in my first post, I am against tanks, grenade launchers, attack helicopters and bazookas/rocket launchers. (The average citizen can't use those things + that in a zombie apocalypse those things wouldn't even exist or in extreme low supply)

 

What I only want is the military coat for cold weather + the possibility of wrapping a scarf around your head. Both cool in appearance and practical.

Exactly...we already have tons of those games if you really want to play war and haul military gear there is always Cold War Crisis, ArmA 1,2 and 3...and did i already mention CoD, BF and a lot of other games that don't have zombies in them in normal mode? ( <--- just wanted to make sure nobody throws in "BUT COD HAS ZOMBIES YADA YADA YADA..."  )

I agree that this type of gear should be available.  I also agree that the civilian stuff would be a great addition.  Overall, I guess I just can't wait until we have different weather extremes that forces the players to look for gear like this.  A realistic weather pattern would be awesome (cold fronts, torrential downpours, heavy snowfall, freezing rain, and even damaging winds, etc. that forces players to take shelter).

I don't know where you live, but where I live there is a military base approximately 20 km from where I live. Easy to walk through the forests to get there. What I would face there is unknown, but I would do as I do in DayZ. Stay out, scout, move from tree to tree, wall to wall, not make any noise. In case of contact with other survivors, say something to team up or get ready to fight if the first fails.

 

edit: Basically, they should add tons, and _more_ of civilian cloths than military, but to not forget about the latter and it's different forms (summer, autumn, winter, rain)

 

Right now if I take an example, there is only civilian rain coats. The camo is pretty bad and people can easily spot you from miles away. I'm the forest kind of "hiking player". Get food, get out of the cities and head north.

Cool, :) good idea, and the weather cycle getting snow for a few weeks solid then back to normal could be quite good. Watched alot of the videos from the dayz mod and it looked basically like a slightly RPG COD multiplayer with zombies thrown in. Pointless shooting, killing, yay, on the corpses guns! Ammo!! loot! . Oh now we die, re spawn, re-equip. On we go. Praying they do not add any more powerful snipers like that giant monstrosity , mosin is enough. Im suprised the M4 is even in this game based on where it is meant to be, would of thought it would be AK-47's. Still, i think weapons are far too easy to be found. Less guns, less ammo. More team based survival, hunting/cooking looking good, camps sound great, we want our own mini walking dead series and dayz can be just that. But i have a fear, this may just turn in to yet another FPS because the vast amount of people out there want there games like they like their films...... Fingers crossed it wont. Thumbs up on the winter clothing idea, hope a winter time/ seasons comes along too.

What is up with people and COD? This is noooo way close to COD in terms of the gun battles and how the firearms feel, the only game I have had come close to this level of realism and feeling in gun battles is BF2:PR and Arma 3

From my experience, the Military always has better things. Especially when it comes to winter gear. I don't buy winter things from the civilian market anymore since it all sucks. I only trust military grade gloves boots and coats since I can rely on them. I'm a regular to the local Surplus Store.

Mr. Sinister. I'm an old arma player but I've never played the dayZ mod. From what I've seen, I didn't like it. Seeing an apache helicopter with missiles hovering in the air killed it all. It was more like an FFA Arma game more than a zombie apocalypse. DayZ standalone is _much_ better in that point.

 

I like the idea of the vehicles to be added in dayz standalone will be like an item, which you build for yourself and explore to find gas, and or if the enginge breaks down, you have to find tools to fix it. I hope they never implement helicopters.

Indeed, but DayZ should have more civilian winter clothes than military, ofcourse. The military version is what I would like to see.

I dont have a problem with call of duty parsay, although i have barely played them. To be honest im pretty much a L4D only guy of the FPS arena. Because i see no fun in military style headset warrior groups wanting to shoot people. Ive been waiting for somthing different, L4D brought that to a certain degree. And i truely hope this is the next step for the survival horror genre. Not yet another shooter, kill or be killed game regurgitated, in a slightly different format. I dont want to see any new guns, id like to see the M4 removed and replaced by an AK47. But see alot less ammo and guns floating around. I want to see the start of day of the dead in this game, so to speak. They microphone into a city, and get half a citys worth of zombies coming to them. I want to see the same thing happen when people shoot in the citys on this. Survival, not PVP repetition.

Mr Sinister. A combination of both. Survival is the ground of this game - How you survive is up to you. Play smart, and you won't die (not as easily) or run up to anyone you see and say "hello?" and risk being shot or robbed. 

 

Currently I'm fully geared (military, all green) with a mosin, long range scope, ballistic helm and gasmask. I hang mostly around the scyscrapers around Cherno and Balota airstrip to snipe other snipers killing people down in cherno. Other than that, I go north, get food, water so I can stay in the buildings for a longer period of time. Luckily I haven't been hungry in ages. (varied diet I guess)

 

Been alive with this one for over two weeks now and have had 5-6 really tight situations where I was, by all logic, supposed to die but I managed to survive. Play this as if you actually was your character, and you'll be alright. If you play it like it's BF4, you will die quite fast.

When you find a mre you dont know whats inside when you open it you get some random food package, and a random drink mix that you can add to any water you have.

They are gonna be adding more guns in the future. Rocket himself said there were going to be around 500 guns when the game is done.

I'm probably the only one here who at least wants to see the underbarrel grenade launchers (M-203, GP-25) that already exist. Not sure how keen I am on having Milkors, Javelins or Anti-Air launchers, but I fail to see how single-shot grenade launchers and RPG-7s would be a bad addition with proper firing mechanisms. 

Firing grenade/rocket launchers is easy, but doing so accurately is the difficult part.

 

 

With proper ballistic mechanisms, I feel like grenade launchers would have to be used skillfully, just as long-ranged rifles like the SVD. However, just keeping them out is not interesting and is sort of a lazy approach.

It's really hard to explain it to you, since you probably never played the mod, but military gear is part of the game. Instead of finding the 100th PU scope, you could find a (rare) grenade and it would feel great to have it in your inventory. It's basically like finding a gun in the SA, expect a little more satisfying.
