What does this sign say?

Recommended Posts

Good morning!

I've been wondering about this for quite some time now... there are signs like this all over Chernarus, I've seen them at at least a dozen different locations. Most of the time next to a street but without any landmark or location next to it. What does it say? What does it mean?

"He, Basoph!"

Which is an old german dialect (modern german: "He, pass auf!") meaning:"Hey, watch out!" :)

And also...

Aw, I solved it myself. :P

After picking similar looking letters from a russian alphabet chart ("НЗ ЗАГОРИЯ") and googling it  +" dayz" ich found this thread on reddit

Apparently it says "National Park Zagoria" ("Zagoria" being translatable as "Behind Mountain(s)").

So this signs seem to mark the border of a National Park. Kinda cool, i didn't know there was a National Park in chernarus. :P

I definitly see the similarity to "He pass uff" (Eher Berlinerisch though than Hochdeutsch^^) but where did you get the "He Basoph!" from? I don't speak russian but phonetically the second word should start with the same sound the first wold ended ("З") which is more a "z" sound according to a phonetic chart...?

I saw a similar sign at each of the four castles on the map that read something like "Historical [somethingorother]" when I used the Google Translate app on my tablet to take a picture of it. I assumed it was a historical landmark in that case, but it's got different wording on it than this sign does.

Meh. cs-pre1.6-leetspeak^^

Kein russisch...Nur Zeichen (schlecht^^ lesen und (noch schlechtere) Witze drüber machen^^)

Eine 3 ist ein E in der Wortmitte, aber am Anfang kann sie auch als "B" gelesen werden (dem der vertikale Strich fehlt)

Und ich bin Österreicher :P
