Dayz getting more awesome. Respawning zombies are really good.

Just wanted to tell you about my recent adventure. After leaving some supplies and a good luck note in the northeast airstrip air control tower on the second floor. (I was on one of the experimental SE servers in case the cache still hasn't been claimed) I decided to head to Krasnostav to get some food and more supplies. When I entered it and started searching the first house, a player with an axe ran right into the building, saw me, and immediately ran back to the door, where a chasing zombie hit him. I warned him that I would shoot if he did anything stupid, but shot the zombie with my trusty SKS and said that I will be on my way. When I ran out of the building I was immediately greeted by another walker, who I also shot. I tried to reach the office building, hoping to find some more ammo for my SKS. I quicly ran through it, dispaching another zombie that came after me, found some tasty tuna and 357mag ammo on the top floor. And saw that there was another SKS up there. While I was descending again, I saw the same axe wielding guy again, fighting off another zombie. I shot that one again. Repeated that I don't want any trouble, and that there is an SKS upstairs if he wants it. Ran out the building and got chased by three more zombies. I shot the 2, but ran out of ammo (shot some z's earlier), swiched to my magnum, killed that one, just to see 3 more coming at me. I dispatched them, while missing some shots from the stress and the horrible 15fps i was getting. Reloaded with a speedloader just in time for another 3-4 of them. When I thought it was all clear I reloaded and started bandaging myself as I was bleeding profusely. However, more biters were already on my way and hit me just as I finished bandaging. So again I ran a bit, reloaded my magnum. Dealt with them and ran away from the location. To reload and bandage all my weapons. Went to the supermarket and saw a small green backpack, which I wanted to trade for my big shiny orange mountain one. I heard zombies moaning around while I was transferring my stuff. A few ran in and I shot them or axed them before they did me any harm. Finally loaded my backpack (Leaving my cowboy  hat  and all paint to save some space) and ran into the forest. Started to rain and i went into one of those small huts that are raised on the ground and rested and ate. I found an fnx in the airport earlier, chambered it (still don't have a mag) and tried it out (also find a pistol light, but that didn't work for some reason, even though it was pristine and had a pristine battery in it). Another zombie showed up just 7 seconds after the shot, so i chambered another round and shot that one too and ran away, before another one started chasing me.

Point of the matter is that the new respawning zombies are awesome. They spawn behind you or in any other direction and you don't always hear them coming before it's tool late, so they can sometimes be a real opponent in numbers. This makes the game much more enjoyable and actually worth of it's name. Now if only you could barricade yourself in a building and they didn't walk through walls like fucking ghosts...

P.S another irrelevant question, but what would be the best find in a player created cache for you - assorted ammo and/or mags/food water medicine/ or a weapon? Do you ever leave anything out for your fellow survivors and if so what?

P.P.S. Found a bottle in the airport that had 17% water left, can you poison water in any way and leave that as a trap for someone? Or am I just being paranoid for leaving a good bottle?

BAM! WALL of Text. I dislike the Fact that Zs respawn, but loot doesnt atm. It gets more intense fighting them, thats right. But in this case it feels like they are  a bit overpowered spawning in your face when you have nothing to loot. Zs are broken atm, they should let them respawn when they are fixed.

well so far I am liking the zed respawns - cleared cherno (or so I thought) yesterday only to have it loaded with em again after I exited some building... at the time I was unaware that they were respawning so I was surprised to find them all over the place again. as for the cache pack - I will sometimes drop all my gear on a rooftop and jump even if I am geared like mad - there is just something about the thrill of starting it all over again ;) I do try to announce in global VC (if that even works) where I drop and where I jump from. some day I might try to make it back to the jump spot just to see who manages to find it.

Respawning loot is something I'm not overly concerned about, having the Z's respawn is great but I like anything that adds to the challenge of the game, yeah  bit wall of text, but I got through it cos I really wanted to hear the story.

Great news on the Z re-spawns.  I'm still mixed on having loot re-spawn if servers are going to continue to be restarted every 4 or so hours.

Ummm ... errrr ... Zombie Survival ... aren't they supposed to be a threat or did I miss something. I have no problem with gearing up and KOS and Banditry and gun-fights at Elektro Coral ... but I am very happy that the Zombies are a threat ... as it should be.

Tonight ... I play. 8-}

Wooo respawning zombies. Even if it makes zombies a serious threat with their collison detection and lack of respawning loot, I love a challenge :P I personally want to see zombies become enough of a threat that you have to loot places like big cities or military areas in groups (at least more than one or two people) to pull it off. Yessssss.

Zeds are only difficult due to their wall walking and general glitching.

I love a challenge when it isnt a fristrating clunky mess. Fix the zombies, add in stealth, and fix the melee. Then we will have a fun challenge.

Good challenges do not make you feel cheated by clunky glotches, they make you feel accomplished or stupid, if you make a mistake.
