Rocket, We love you.

Recommended Posts

Just posted on Twitter, rocket2guns:

"Newsflash: Man wants to do something else once he is finished what he is doing now, more at 10! :P"

NEWSFLASH, You don't talk about leaving, future projects, and SIMULTANEOUSLY say your current project is "not the ultimate multiplayer experience" when it isn't even OUT OF ALPHA!!

Jesus christ, this guy is such an ass

oops was actually an old post, same point though. Reading through his posts, this guy is so bad at PR it is insane

"And people wonder why I want to go home eventually...."

you silly fool, talking down a product you are responsible for, while at the same time saying you are going to leave in a year and start your own video game...

There is no reasoning with people like you. Maybe you didn't even read what he said or his twitter responses after.

He is clearly being a crybaby and calling him out for being a tool is not being a crybaby. One however, could characterize your overzealous defense of him, as being a fanboy.

1. Dayz sold so many copies, they dont need to sell it anymore (official statement)

2. People want Rocket to be honest, now they spit at him for being honest. Nice one.

3. Namecalling is a habit of dumb people.

4. Rage on for no reason.

1. No company, ever, in history, will ever NOT WANT MORE MONEY.

2. I don't want rocket to be anything, don't attribute things others have said to me, all I am saying his recent statements are extremely immature and selfish.

3. And yet you insinuate we are all being crybabies. At least be consistent, I have no problem with name-calling when it is well placed.

I think Dean is probably the only dev with the balls to be completely transparent with his game.

If he acted like the game was gonna be the best thing ever (like most shithead developers do) people would hate him, if he speaks the truth the about the game, people will still hate him.

Like seriously wtf, I've never ever seen a developer so outright about the dev process and their limitations. Kudos to dean.

kudos to dean for cultivating a large fanboy base who refuse to criticize him regardless of the recklessness and irresponsible nature of his comments. I'm done arguing with people who refuse to think any negative thoughts about a developer, it is like you are seeing right past the fact that be publicly stated a product we all payed for was 'fundamentally flawed' while at the same time announcing the future creation of his own studio and game that apparently will not be 'fundamentally flawed'. Seriously...

Do you see how you are saying the exact opposite thing, that if you think Dean is a piece of shit for what he said you are just a crybaby?

Try using logic and defending your point first. Dean really speaks for himself, you cannot say the things he did as a project lead, it is as simple as that.

Sorry your hero turned out to be a douche, naming items in game after yourself was the first red flag I saw

I'd still buy Dean a pint before any of you lot.

In all seriousness, there are plenty of highly regarded people who have left unfinished works to start new projects. Notch, of course. JJ Abrams has pretty much bailed on everything he ever started and he gets to do Star Wars and Star Trek.

It's not an uncommon thing...And from gleaning as much as I have from Dean's personality, I think his self-criticisms are humbly spot on and the claims of vanity and egomania are fairly heavy handed. At a certain point I have to agree the game might benefit without his waterspout of ideas and concepts.

The problem I see is not that he left an unfinished project. It is that he slandered it quite a bit by saying "fundamentally flawed" - this gives the impression that he never really believed in his own project and disrespects the work of his co-workers putting so much effort in this game.

I always try being reasonable: Dean has decided to leave, that's fine. What isn't is his self-portrayal over the whole development of the game, he, the king of the mountain - and now he resigns with those words? This can never be okay, even for people who are ultra fans of the game (like me). This ain't about the game, this is about the attitude of Dean as a human being! This point seems to be forgotten by so many people.

I know I repeat myself: Respect for telling people he wants to face other challenges and other projects, but do it like a reasonable person, not a douche!

Hello there

I'm going to lock this as its degraded into the other thread, I may merge as well.

There's a distinct lack of Rocket Love here.

But, i'm okay, you're okay so hey, it's ok.

Rgds
