Rocket, We love you.

Recommended Posts

I think, with all these people crying that you'll be gone in 10 months, which is a long time, and defiantly enough time when you think about it, almost a year, and that people are still hurt to hear that, shows that, well,

The DayZ community loves you Rocket.

I don't like rocket for being a douche sometimes. But im still worried about what happens with the Game when the new lead developer will be a unknown tard which doesn't know shit about survival.

I hope the new guy will be smart enough to use the ArmA III Engine and port all that stuff.

I dont think that they are hurt, I think most of them are either mad or dont care personally I just think its a really bad sign for the game for the lead dev to leave. but I got my entertainment out of the alpha so meh

Stop speaking for everyone. I personally think 'Rocket' is a huge tool and it is a really good thing he is leaving.

You can defend him all you want, saying a product people bought is a "fundamentally flawed concept" is seriously an irresponsible thing to say

It isn't the end of the world and again probably better that he isn't sticking around. He is way too self-obsessed and people like you enable that, it is really disgusting, but who cares. The game will hopefully continue to improve, I have faith.

I love how he takes very partial, if no responsibility for Dayz in his comments on Reddit, YET IT SAYS "Created by Dean Hall" in game.
Too perfect. Only takes credit when/where it looks good.

The mod was made from a game that was finished(Arma 2) this game is hardly finished, and it wont be anywhere near ready in 10 months given the track record of content release, how many years has it been and we have a bearbones deathmatch woooo~

Again I think this game is going to be awesome, and all the better without the likes of an idiot who likes to be called 'Rocket'

Seriously you can smell the self-importance on him a mile away, just listen to anything he says or read anything he says. The existence of the 'Rocket Aviators' in game is seriously stupid and is but a small token of his vein attitude/logic.

Good riddance rocket, next time learn how to be a respectful employee and don't call your current employers product a "fundamentally flawed concept" just because you are leaving at the end of the year. I have a feeling people defending this man have not worked for an employer they respected, else they would see this action as what it is- immature and selfish

edit: I obviously don't know his contract/situation with BI, but even if they are 'partners', it is still equally immature and selfish to publicly damage a product like that. Especially when your reasoning is because 'when I leave I'm going to make an even better game!!!'

I am not even sure what his plans will be. After DayZ there can't be any similar project for him to work on without being automatically connected to DayZ...

he said specifically he wanted to set up his own studio and work on the 'ultimate multiplayer experience', which he for some reason felt the need to point out DayzSA is not that.

Well, a lot of games have flaws, with exploits and such, the exploit here is you can shoot a person and reap the reward, while in most games its punishable, this it isn't, and my friend and I are game developers as well, we made a simple box game with collision and a few more things in the core of the game, then we just started adding for a week, its basically a finished product, its flaw is its really boring to play a game where you just walk around as a box pressing buttons.

and these people are TRAINED, and know what their doing, we only know by experience, while they know like 1000% more then us, and they have a TEAM as well, and rocket is one of them, and hes saying eventually he'll depart, and start a new road on a better game, in 10 months we'll have vehicles, zombies will be fixed, zombies more deadly, way more weapons to go with, building bases, and even more you can dream about.

I don't know what rocket's role is in the group, but he's been adding little things here and there, telling it on twitter, he probably manages money, his worker's work time, news letters, interviews, community responses, he could be a total dick and just say nothing, not even touch the community, or tell us what's going on, like some sort of mindless machine, but I don't think he's a mindless robot.

Yes, I read that - but is that clear to you? To me it isn't...

Edit: scratch what I said. What was said by Hall has been badly misinterpreted after doing my own research.

But Rocket can't just take all the credit, then piss off with an statement like he did... it is unfair to his co-workers. Somewhere I read a complaint about the "Created by Dean Hall" sentence on the menu screen; I also found that strange...

No one should be surprised if this becomes a take the money and run scenario. This company made its money already, where is the urgency to continue the work?

They could quit tomorrow and its still a success.

I really hope this is not the case, but the lead developer announcing departure already is not a good sign..

It is sketch I will admit.

Is what clear, that Dayz WONT be the ultimate multiplayer experience?

Again I think Dayz will be better without him, just pointing out the immaturity and disrespectful nature of deans statements. He did not have to say any of that inflammatory content to get published, and yet he of course passes the blame to 'the media'. Ridiculous, this is pure speculation from this point on but it seems like he and BI got in an argument over who-knows-what and he wanted to get a swipe in on his current/former employer/partner

well here's the thing, if Dean is the guy I think he is, he's not going to just run away with a bunch of money, I'm pretty sure one of his millions of follower would murder him at some point in time,

Dean may or may not think the game will be done in less then 10 months? therefor why stay after full release?

I meant: Is it clear to you what his "ultimate gaming experience" is gonna be or what he is planning on doing after leaving a very, very, very promising work of art here!

I am with you. If I get Dean right - IF - then I respect his desicion to leave the project: He doesn't see potential in "his" own game anymore. And there we have the "unfair part": He does not believe in himself, he is indirectly telling people that they invested in a project that never had future AND on top of that he is more than mean to his colleagues...

I think you have an optimistic view there...

I am just trying to be realistic here, so don't be offended: Look at what changed over the last month... I just recognized a few new items, some performance enhancements here and there aaaaand... that's it?! I didn't see fixes in PVP attitude/pay/penalty, in zombie gameplay or whatever... either they are holding back on us or they are programming some smaller things we can't really notice. I really don't want to spit in anyones soup, I just don't see it! Just putting it out there :)

Honestly, why do you think he is a decent guy? Do you really think a decent guy would allow "Created by Dean Hall" to be plastered on the main home screen for all users to see?

Do you honestly think a decent guy would say what he has said about the game being 'inherently flawed' and 'not the ultimate multiplayer experience'?

Do you honestly, think he is a decent guy when he tries to act surprised on twitter by saying "What announcement?" when the news first hits and someone on twitter asks him directly about it?

He wasn't surprised, he made his money, good riddance. The game will be better without a selfish jerk like that
