Grimey Rick 3417 Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) So my wife's computer has been having random .pbo files mess up resulting in getting her kicked off of DayZ fairly often the last few days. It keeps booting her off with a message about being unable to authenticate a certain file. Sometimes it's a bush, sometimes it's an item. It's really strange. I first verified the integrity of the game cache, but that didn't fix it. I then fully reinstalled DayZ. Still happening, just not as often. Any ideas? Zjasuu 337 Posted February 23, 2014 Emm. how and from where did you uninstall the game from? Steam or from the files?
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted February 23, 2014 Emm. how and from where did you uninstall the game from? Steam or from the files? I uninstalled it via Steam and then went through the Steam directory and deleted all of the DayZ content.
Guest Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) It's because she is a zombie now...... They will have working Dayz at terminus i'm sure. Have you got any examples of the pbo errors? Edited February 23, 2014 by Guest
Gugolas 228 Posted February 23, 2014 I can't help, but gave you beans for the thread title.
weparo 613 Posted February 23, 2014 I'd assume that you play on a misconfigured server... An experimental maybe?
Zjasuu 337 Posted February 23, 2014 I uninstalled it via Steam and then went through the Steam directory and deleted all of the DayZ content. Well then I'm clueless, try a different server is my best guess. Also try to update the game for test servers and then back to normal.
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted February 23, 2014 I'd assume that you play on a misconfigured server... An experimental maybe? We're playing on stable hardcore. Well then I'm clueless, try a different server is my best guess. Also try to update the game for test servers and then back to normal. I'll try that. I assume a full reinstall would've done the same thing, though. Fingers crossed. :3 It's because she is a zombie now...... They will have working Dayz at terminus i'm sure. Have you got any examples of the pbo errors? I don't have a screenshot of the error, but it's something along the lines of "Wrong signature for file [insert random .pbo here]". It'll kick her a handful of times before the issue seems to subside and allow her to play on a server. It's fairly annoying as she faces a five minute wait due to the new timer. :T

kichilron 8550 Posted February 23, 2014 I have never worked what causes the pbo's to fuck up. Sometimes everything's alright and then everything's broken again. I myself hardly ever had any problems with it, though. Did you ensure you have full admin-permissions over the driver you're installing it on?
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted February 24, 2014 Let me know if it worked! This method did not work. I have never worked what causes the pbo's to fuck up. Sometimes everything's alright and then everything's broken again. I myself hardly ever had any problems with it, though. Did you ensure you have full admin-permissions over the driver you're installing it on? Same here. On my computer everything is slick as snot, but on her computer for the last few days, she's been having a ton of issues with being kicked for .pbo files. Also, yes, we have full access to the drive upon which we installed the game. This is a really odd/frustrating issue to say the least.
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted February 26, 2014 UPDATE: I took some screenshots of the issue in question. See below:
