nobody 31 Posted June 24, 2012 My english is poor, so i hope you will understandYesterday,I deciced to go explore NW airfield..i found M9 SD pistol.Lately I found M9 pistol, so.. I thought I would take m9 mag and shoot it with M9 SD pistol.. but i couldnt. I know you can shoot M9 mags and M9 SD mags with M9 pistol... but you cant shoot M9 mags with M9 SD pistol. So, it would be nice to shoot with M9 SD pistol M9 mags huh?I hope you understand what i am talking about.. ;)if you dont understand.. check the images
Soldier of Failure 14 Posted June 24, 2012 I suppose, but then the silencer would be useless, and the sound would have to be change. The reason the gun doesnt make that loud noise is because of subsonic ammo.
nobody 31 Posted June 24, 2012 Thank for reply.. but if the M9 SD use subsonic ammo.. than i will have to cock every single shot... but i needn't check, this
RaviN (DayZ) 9 Posted June 24, 2012 i think what op is saying is, if he were able to use the normal ammo in an sd gun it wont be silenced but he will still be still able to use the normal ammo in an sd gun ^(like you can do with a n0rmal gun with sd ammo)+1 anyway op
hombrecz 832 Posted June 24, 2012 Yup just yesterday I found M9SD again, with 2 mags. Then I quickly realised I can not use non sd ammo and got sad.I think I will drop it if I find Glock17. That can use both G17 and M9 ammo as well as M9 SD ammo (zeds wount hear you, players will).
euryale 72 Posted June 24, 2012 that's kinda dumb, not being able to use m9 mags on m9SD.The 9mm bullet is a subsonic ammunition. when fired it doesn't pass the sonic wall (around 400m/sec), so technically any 9mm ammo would feat. For the M4a1 SD, I can understand, the 5.56 (or .223) is a supersonic ammo, so the SD m4 would require a subsonic ammo.
Deuzerre 64 Posted June 24, 2012 Using non subsonic ammo on a silenced weapon causes many problems, one of which can be the barrel exploding to your face, the other being that the whole gun gets damaged.
nobody 31 Posted June 25, 2012 thanks for repliesOk.. now we talking about subsonic ammo,What about option to be able to unscrew silencer :)
7-75 callaghan 43 Posted June 25, 2012 I suppose' date=' but then the silencer would be useless, and the sound would have to be change. Read up on how SD weapons and ammo work in the game to understand usage.I agree 100% with the OP. He has spotted a bug/oversight which the devs need to fix ASAP.+
A Man Named GOB 1 Posted June 25, 2012 I would +1 this if firing standard pressure rounds would A) be louder through the silenced weapon and B) cause permanent damage to the silencer.I doubt that B is possible but we shall see?
Beemlord 1 Posted June 25, 2012 While we're on the subject of suppressed weapons, it's kinda interesting that the MP5SD can't use supersonic bullets in the game even though in reality it was design to be able to use them while the suppressor is attached by bleeding off gasses that result in bullets that would normally break the sound wall escaping the barrel at subsonic velocities. infinitegrim 47 Posted June 25, 2012 Thank for reply.. but if the M9 SD use subsonic ammo.. than i will have to cock every single shot... but i needn't check' date=' this [/quote']Rifles and handguns are two different things, and some companies do produce 5.56 subsonic ammo that will cycle the gun. The video you linked to is a guy most likely shooting handloaded ammo. The subsonic handgun ammo is usually just a heavier bullet. NATO 9mm uses 115gr bullets going around 1200fps, but if you use a 147gr bullet it will be going under the sound barrier without loosing any of the 9mm's power. Now they should change it so that you can fire standard ammo in a SD weapon. It would be much harder for players and zombies to pinpoint the person firing the gun because the suppressor is masking the sound of the gun, but teh crack of the bullet remains. While we're on the subject of suppressed weapons' date=' it's kinda interesting that the MP5SD can't use supersonic bullets in the game even though in reality it was design to be able to use them while the suppressor is attached by bleeding off gasses that result in bullets that would normally break the sound wall escaping the barrel at subsonic velocities.[/quote']Thats because it needs full power rounds to do so since its already bleeding off velocity. Integrally suppressed firearms have "ported" barrels that bleed off gasses as the round goes through the barrel so the round does not accelerate past 10xxfps breaking the sound barrier. If you did that with already slow ammunition, you might cause problems.
