random fog, zombie hordes, grass level

First I would like to thank you for your awesome persistant Modification!

Suggestions of my mates and me that came up:

random fog

Back in nogova virus (OFP1) the fog boosted the athmosphere to a higher level. I suggest a random fog or random fog area to create scary spots. Players who like to snipe other people away may avoid the fog by let it passing by or moving away. How often, where and how heavy the fog appears may be random.

I know people may argue about this :D

zombie hordes

When watching 'The Walking Dead' by AMC I noticed the big groups of zombies wandering through the country. They seem to be attracted by gun fire or other human traces.

My suggestion is to create some !rare! groups that are moving around (maybe especially in forests) to change the fealing of being safe outside the towns. If they move slowly towards gunfire it would push the gameplay. These travellers might differ in how dangerous they are. You now would have to exspect that a group will come to your location maybe sooner or maybe later. You should keep moving :shy:

grass level

The grass is very important for me as chernarus looks ugly without it. As there are more and more Player-versus-Players fights we would suggest to lower the grass level. Its very hard to defend yourself when you are lying in the grass. The enemy is often still able to see you anyway. Its the typical ArmA2-FUBAR situation. :D

1: I would love some fog to be added.

2: Zombies hordes, although its been suggested before, its with good reason. Hordes would be epic.

3: Not sure theres much DayZ can do about that.

Thank you for your positive response. For 3: there were addons that were able to fix it in the past.

lower grass? so people can see you even more?

Go into multiplayer with a friend. Get prone in the grass (you wont see nearly anything).

Then tell your friend to walk a little distance away and watch into your direction. He will clearly see you because he doesnt see the grass layer near you from the distance.

Fog's coming, it's going to be an environmental effect like rain. I'm not sure if it'll hit all of Chernarus at once or not, but you'll see it in 1.7.2 on Monday. Give it a go and if you have any thoughts on it, make a whole thread for it after you've played the patch a little, 'cause I'm sure lots of players will have input to that end.

I'm all about zombie hordes, and I think that's something we might see ROCKET playing with shortly after 1.7.2 when the optimizations we've heard about hit.

As far as the grass goes, I'd actually be interested in seeing taller grass in some areas, so that crouch-walking players are in a sort of corn-maze situation, where as you tread, you knock the grass down. It'd make things pretty interesting.

Higher grass - if it protects the prone/crouched player from distant armed enemies (or zombies) - why not!!

I would love if the grass would be visible atleast over kilometre.

So the bandit attacking you would have to look for you in the grass same as you have to.

But yes, thats Arma 2 engine thingie...same as weird mechanics with ammo & magazines etc.

i like this idea, some places with long grass would be good although it could be better..

what would be realy cool if there was lots of fog in the long grass and a higher zombie spawn rate in that area.

anyway, its just an idea but i could just imagine the caos or devistation that will happen when shit goes bad :D

could be an idea to make this area not accessable via vehicle, only a team of people would dare enter in this location to promote teamwork ;)

the airfields are getting a little boring now, they are easy to get in and out of, we need a part of the map that is litterally a suicide mission, but rewards you greatly, make something realy fucking rare spawn there.. new weapons maybe?

im getting the image of the raptor scene in the long grass from jurassic park the lost world..

DONT GO INTO THE LONG GRASS!!!

Yeah i am agree with you! 1km visible grass that would be really good
