Have you tried altering your graphicssettings at all?

For example the Anti-Aliasing and Edge Smoothing?

yeah, switch everything without any difference... From disabled to FXAA/SMAA. What could it be ?

Hi.

Kind of looks like flickering shadows. What setting do you use?

Regards.

Happens to me all the time. I think it's normal behavior in the current state of the game development.
The game is switching textures to lower resolution depending on your distance.

It happens much less on the current test branch

Only happens when you scope doesn't it? Hell, this still occurs in BF4 a bit.

Yep, only when I'm using the scope.

No cure ?

FXAA very high

HDR Low

Ambient occlusion : Low

The thing is that I personally have that as well and it happens to me all the time, not as bad admittedly. But I always put it aside as one of the RV-engine problems.

Hello there

Z fighting?

I used to have this issue on a lesser powered gtx460.

It may be worth fiddling with your NVIDIA control panel settings.

Off hand I dont know a quick fix.

Personally I just put up with it, but thats not an ideal solution. We got any RED tech forum guys around?

Rgds

FFS, switch shadows and clouds on!

Easymode setting cheaters these days...

I have the same issue on my gaming rig..
Friend on a very different rig doesn't have this issue.

AMD Phenom X6 1100T
16GB RAM
AMD Radeon 6970 2GB
OCZ Vertex 3 SSD x2 Raid 0

I have managed to clear up a lot of lag/fps in 95% of the map.. (Cherno area is still a fps killer)
Still tweaking settings a little each day trying to find exactly what causes this flickering & how to make Cherno freaking run above 10-20 fps..  :(

I think there is no solution for this. Depth buffer just doesnt have enough precision, so distant object flicker.

They could split viewing frustum in multiple partitions, each with its own depth buffer but that would lead to other problems.

Below is a link to a potential fix.  It's listed as being for Sim City for those using NVidia hardware but the problem is the same in both games, so odds are the fix may work for DayZ and for those with ATI vid cards as well.  I know ATI has Catalyst Control Center (CCC) where you can specify settings for certain games too, just like NVidia does.   I'm at work now so I can't test it myself, but it's simple to test and easily reversible if it doesn't work or has adverse performance consequences.

I will have to test this asap.

I did just so happen to change those very settings last night to 8xQ on my AMD CCC.  It did seem to help reduce the flickering a Little already.  Didn't have enough time last-night to actually play the game and test more changes.

Was trying out this guys guide to settings and using it as a go to assistance video for new comers.

He suggested turning off the in game AA & using Nvidia/AMD application over ride settings..  Which does appear to work out better performance wise.

I started having this problem when i overclocked my GPU memory clock, if you've OC'd yours, try incrementally turning it down until the problem goes away. :)

What? Shadows and clouds kills your fps, maybe he's not trying to have an advantage, didn't realize you were the chief of DayZ.

Just (finally) upgraded from an ATI 3870HD to a Radeon GTX670 and the game still runs like absolute death in towns. I know it's poorly optimised at present but is there anyone with a similar card/setup that can help me at least feel like this game is running on a fairly decent card?

AMD Athlon X4 630 - 2.80Ghz

12GB RAM
A desk covered in miserable poor framerate tears

I keep tweaking and nothing seems to be the right balance between recent-gen and total potato. It is literally only this game that makes me feel like I haven't upgraded at all...

Any help would be appreciated (I've done the optimisations via the .ini before the upgrade)
