Estyles 14 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Currently in the experimental build the reticle changes depending on gun raised or lowered in 3pp and 1pp. I think they should all line up as anything else is just silly. These pictures are taken while holding the same position on the house just to illustrate how far the reticle moves. http://imgur.com/a/jNmC5 Edited February 18, 2014 by Estyles
fitzee 248 Posted February 18, 2014 Hi. I'm sure I will get crapped on by the UT brigade for this but whatever... Use your iron sights/scope for aiming. The lame reticule shouldn't even be in the game. If anything it simulates firing from the hip and shouldn't really be accurate anyway. It's much more accurate in 1PP than 3PP, but still, nothing is better than the actual sights. Regards.
Mullraugh 1151 Posted February 18, 2014 What RF said. Also, this is a common ArmA 2 thing as well. You get used to it quickly. And by get used to, I mean ignore.
Disgraced 1123 Posted February 18, 2014 Yeah, the dot is for using the 'use' key so you can see the focus point. To aim, go into first person and quickly right click. You can thereafter hold right click to hold your breath, too. Quick right click to take your focus off of aiming and go about your business. That's how it works. Don't try to fire your weapon in third person. It is futile.

So when you are in 3rd person, the crosshair still shows the middle of the screen relative to the first person view.I think it is good. 3rd person would be WAY too easy otherwise. You already get corner peeking.. Edited February 18, 2014 by myshl0ng

Estyles 14 Posted February 18, 2014 I think you guys are just used to how poorly optimized Arma has been all this time to realize that it very amateurish to have an oversight on something this simple to fix. If I could edit reticle placement in the .ini file I'd do it myself like I need to do in Bethesdas crap shows as well.
Hutch (DayZ) 116 Posted February 18, 2014 That Dot is not a recticle. It's not meant for aiming your weapon. It's primary purpose is to make it easier to point to an object to interact with. For aiming a gun you need to right click and use the gun sights.
-Gews- 7443 Posted February 18, 2014 The dot always in the center of your screen. The center of your screen in changing.

eleventhavenue 204 Posted February 18, 2014 Lol ´´Poorly optimized´´ ´´amateurish´´ I know, Bohemia Interactive, the military simulation developers, are so stupid not to give accurate crosshairs to your invisible periscope aiming device M2014. Now you almost have to use weapon sights!(Or you can complain)

Rather, they built it to require you to aim 'realistically'. It's not crap, it's just built a certain way.
gibonez 3633 Posted February 19, 2014 Solution remove the reticle.
Daemonkid 493 Posted February 19, 2014 Reticule is fine. If you have to use it 3PP just aim it where you want and remember the bullet is going to go lower than where you aimed. It's incredibly usefull for hip firing, got plenty of kills with it in 1PP. It's quite reliable in 1PP.
