Infected killing other infected

I was walking up the coast from the factory and though I saw a player getting attacked by a zed, but on closer inspection realised it was attacking another zed.

Both of them seemed to be "attacking the air for no reason" which I've seen before, except one of them was behind the other and drawing blood. I thought it might just be a graphical glitch until the one on front fell to the ground and disappeared.

 

Has anyone else encountered anything like this?

yes except it was one zed waking another the second zed was just standing there( and i didnt watch for long enough to see if zed2 went down from such attack.

 

At a guess i had figured maybe new player had run and logged out at the spot and the zeds just got stuck in the attack animation but thats a pure guess...

Yeah I thought it was pretty cool, I guess it means that hordes of zeds might accidentally hit each other while trying to kill you.
