Dayz Character WIPED Happens all the time.... FIX?

Recommended Posts

I get wiped once a week when playing dayz. This has become such an issue that I can no longer test the Alpha, which is the point of "us" players is to test it.

I ALWAYS join "gameservers" hosted servers. And sure enough once a week I log in and get a red error msg in the bottom right saying my character has been wiped and an admin has been notified..

WHY is this happening? Does anybody have an answer for me? I've seen other people post about network issues on here before. I'm just trying to figure out if it is my modem/router setup or my internet provider's fault.

My buddy that I almost always play with has never once been wiped, or had any kind of network lag, so I am fairly sure that this is an isolated problem to my config..

Please help!

Errr, because it's an alpha and it specifically warns you that this will happen?

It's a known bug and the dev team is hard at work trying to fix it. But unfortunately, this game is about constantly loss and exploration. If your main goal is simply to gear up as fast as possible and engage in firefights, you might want to wait for the beta, or retail release.

It's annoying, and it's happened to all of us. Well, like your friend, some people do manage to not have this happen, but also understand that your character stays in the game 30 seconds after you leave. Zombies are acting really weird and sometimes aggro from stupid distance and will run through all kinds of hidden terrain and walls to get to you no matter how carefully you try to look before logging out. So yeah, you might even be getting killed when you think you're logging out in a safe spot.

It's not even that annoying. It's not like it's hard to get a new character up to scratch at the moment.

Interesting, it feels like it happens to me much more often than other, but maybe it isn't as rare as I thought. I am positive it was not a death, it's the same symptoms every time.. connect to a server, get stuck at "please wait" then the bottom left corner get the red text of doom.

I read on another forum to try to log into the same server, but since the recent played list is absolutely useless that is impossible.

And good to know the dev team is working on it. I've been playing the alpha for a couple months now, and this issue has been persistant throughout the alpha, which seems ridiculous that they don't find a solution to this before adding new items etc. My 2cents.

Im sorry this is happening to you so often but just have to say there is one flaw with your 2 cents the devs involved in making new items are different people from the programers/coders that bug fix so not adding items etc would not speed the process at all well unless you think its beneficial that the art department stop work go back to school learn ( or become far more proficient) a completely different skill than there career path ..

EG a pilot learns to fly a plane it does his career no good or the saftey of his crew passengers if he learns to be a mechanic on such air craft ( he cant get outside to fix something in mid flight.)

Well this time sucked because I had 200+ ammo, a mosin, pristine scope, pristine compensator, pristine bipod.. TONS of food, just about every item there is actually.. One of the rare times I actually got everything. Then I was just exploring small towns looking for a shotgun to saw off. Was going pretty good, I usually don't kos, I just like to explore. My toon was a couple weeks old. Just very annoying. Unfortunately, I will never be able to replicate all his gear again. Especially as spawn rates keep going down.

Sad day of dayz for me.

Well, actually, if you want to get THAT technical about things they could cut back hours of some non-salaried coders in the less important departments, and hire contractors to help bug fix. I made absolutely no implications that the developers should try to acquire new skills. In fact, with how many bugs there are in the game they could (and should IMO) put 100% of bug duty fixing man power on characters being wiped, because that is the single largest bug in the game currently.

indeed possible but those contractors must be completely familiar with an engine that was built by BIS ps if you check there web sight theyare attempting to hire more staff but even these new staff need to be trained on the ins and outs of an engine specific to BIS... Throwing money and time at a problem doesnt always fix it faster..... Then the game gets pushed back in develpoment cause you have cut hours on the art department they dont make money and move to a different job ( you dont run a business ofany kind do you??)

But hey i get it your pissed cause you lost your gear but um that doesnt really qualify you to tell a developer how they should do there job now does it......
