Shouldn't the #1 priority be mods ?

Recommended Posts

I - want to see Deans vision of the Dayz, thats why I say NO to moding SA.

If Deans vision, how things sould be, will be totaly oposite what I was expected from Dayz SA, then I will beg for moding possibility....

for now its alpha, its not finished ... it will be OK in the end

Whoa... That was dangerously close to blasphemy. There's obviously no way you would be unhappy with DEAN'S VISION and surely that was a typo. It's ok forum dorks, he didn't mean it! Leave him be!!!

Seeing as the engine is built and the server infrastructure is all set up.

Shouldn't allowing modding and community driven content be the #1 priority ?

We all know that the community can come up with things that are 100x better and at the same time bring out that content in a much faster pace.

So does anyone agree with me , shouldn't modding be priority #1 so we can once again see the community outdo themselves with mods like ACE, breaking point, Epoch, dayz 2017 , invasion 1944, hell in the pacific and any of the other dozens upon dozens of fan fantastic community mods.

no

Maybe when the game is nearing completion, so around spring 2015.

NO lol

Like orlok said the smallest change can cause mods not to work, and in alpha there will be sooooo many changes. That's why we wont get them for a long while yet.

But more...I hope theres a year or so period after release where all private hives all stay vanilla. Modding killed off a lot of the best vanilla hives on the mod. Turning them into start gear, barracks everywhere no challenge servers :)

Hello there

I can understand OP's reasoning, but it is flawed.

As an analogy OP cites A3. Does he not remember the furore that happened when they changes the class name to ifrit?

Almost all missions we instantly broken.

That's just one tiny wee classname.

Dean and the devs are up to their waist in code ripping out stuff here and there their mods would be constantly breaking, also DAYZ the stand alone release is a very different beast to Arma and one really should not think of dayz as either its parent or indeed the mod.

Letting the community onto the game now would result in a bunch of unfinished forks.

One is better off playing the mod and its derivatives if you crave varriety IMHO.

As the game develops and more inherent mechanics are added youll see how DAYZ will change from where we are now into a truly different experience from the mod which was essentially Arma with persistence and zeds.

I do sympathise with OP and see where he is coming from, but he's just not quite got a handle on what's going on and where things are heading.

Now, as to when the game is complete, although Im unsure if I personally would allow modding rather than just new worlds, I do see the community being able to pick up the ball and run with it to an extent.

The mod community always has something to offer, but also on the flip side can easily break the Dayz ethos.

This is the first RV game where im skeptical about large scale modding.

Anyhoo its down to the devs, lets wait and see!

Hi.

Sorry OP, but as much as I like mods, I would have to say no. This game is far from being ready for modding.

Regards.

Being done with Arma 3 and the community is pushing out way more content than Bohemia.

being done to same quality = no

mods go away from standalone , yep you read it here folks STANDALONE !

it mindfucks me everytime someone asks for mods in a game which was a mod became a standalone game now they want to mod the very mod game standalone mod game where the fook are we im lost

most people who want mods are either server owners to get mega money donations in and sell gear or people who want cod style 1000 vehicle servers.

the original idea is a hard survival game with zombies not ! buy a gun to keep my server running :P

as said many times only custom content should be the great maps made thats it ! namaslk and taviana.

I hope Mods come last. hate to see the dayz mods are all about tanks, superhightech mil-weapons, and vehicle spam.

As proven by the Arma 2 Dayz., modding only brings death to this game. Server owners aren't under pressure to keep gameplay fair nor ethical and so they ruin the average user experience by playing a role of the ''lord of the castle'' ingame. That's the one  where exclusively server admins along with their buddies take the right  to kill, exploit and cheat. Everyone else on the other hand is there to serve as bots with feelings... To add insult to injury, server owners are requesting from players to participate in micro transactions that will benefit only them and not the original creators of the game.

Rocket would be a fool to allow his creation to again get hijacked by foreign incompetence.

The mods for Dayz mod were miles ahead of what the base mod offered.

Base building, economy systems, reworked zombies, etc.

The mod itself was way way way behind what even the most rudimentary mods accomplished.

1) There was no base building.  It was map editing.  Base building would have included gathering of resources.

2) The economy system sucked balls and took out the whole idea behind DayZ

3) Reworked zombies were the only thing that was good.

Thought that required gathering resources and then crafting the required items to build a base.

Epoch was not DayZ...... and if that's the vision of crafting that Mr. Hall has in store please excuse me while I laugh.

Epoch was a mod of dayz.

One that completely outshined vanilla dayz.

Also whats wrong with that crafting ? it seems as robust as Rusts base building mechancis and atm Rust sets the gold standard for base building.

no they should finish the game first, then worry about mods. mods should be the very last priority.

Epoch was good Ill give it that. but its economy was shit, retarded, and massively fucked. You have the most money, you win the server.

GG

Tired of you complaining and whining when you clearly do not understand that THIS GAME IS NOT MODDABLE AT THIS TIME.

Modding was available right away, heck took like 3 days before people ported all the arma 2 content over.

Now imagine if they did the same with dayz SA.

We would have the community making faster content adding more features than the devs and like in all cases the quality of the work from the community is always higher, just look at ACE.

So you have less people playing the actual SA, which means less dev feedback, which means glitches, bugs, etc are found much slower, which means the game development is slowed significantly while much of their testing community is pulled away to various other mods?

Yeah not gonna happen

Mod support can happily prance away in gayness (Orlok) forever including those who support it in the standalone.

!!! Post editor has gone bonkers...

Copy/ paste

Lulz...Noob trolls...

Arma did the whole Alpha,Beta,Release BS already and they had mods from day one. Was never a problem. How could something someone does outside of the devlopment effect what the Devs are doing? They can't and don't.

Alright now that the basic facts are on the table we can insert another 30 dumb ass mofo's with jaded thought's...

Hello there

This is vastly different from the A3 release and in a far less mature stage.

Also with A3 there were issues with mods and mission breaking.

At this stage modding just isnt going to happen.

Seems people are concerned that the mods would take away population from the vanilla game.

Honestly this is a very valid concern, the community would make a much better product and game so of course it will get more players.
